Description
In the Salvatican army, the true face of command on a battlefield is that of the Sgt. Generals have a history of keeping their distances from a battlefield, and Commanders can often be found at footholds at the back of a battlefield. Even Officers can become scarce once hostilities start. A sgt is the exception to the rule of command, as they stay with Salvatican Soldiers through the thick and thin of a battle. Whereas Officers and Commanders are graduates of military acadamies or the sons of lords and nobles, sergeants represent one of the only career opportunities for the average enlisted man who comes to the army (or is drafted, as the majority are) and proves themselves worthy of promotion. Because of their commoner status, and combat readiness sgts aren't allowed to carry the grossly oversized swords of commanders or officers, and instead use a more practical standard blade with a slightly longer face. Whereas commanders wear gold, and officers red, sgts. wear blue.
