I ADORED this series for years, but I always felt it was being held back due to it pandering to the more younger audience. I understand this reason but when stories have war, action violence, and deep relationships, making the content kid-friendly and toning it down usually affects the authenticity thus lessen the emotional impact. This pic is what I have been waiting for nearly 20 years, a gritty Sonic cartoon/comic with GORGEOUS art aimed at mid to older teens (like most shounen). I know it's just a picture but if Sonic could ever be animated series with this level of quality and edginess, my life would absolutely be complete. Needless to say, you've made a patreon for life my friend (until you stop drawing these, anyway)

Glad you like it! And thank you for the $1 donation, rocklee89. In fairness, I think the older Sonic comics had enough appeal to older readers like myself. There were well developed factions, culture, society and history on Mobius to fascinate me. Just because the comics were kept suitable for all ages didn't mean that the story lacked depth. The Mobians have been through a lot with the loss of Echidnaopolis and most of its citizens, the robotization of Princess Sally and the breaking up of the Freedom Fighters. These are what kept me comic back to read the next issue to see if our heroes will pull through, which is what I'm trying to revive in my own webcomic. Maybe you'll find the kind of grit you want there too.

Imagine, if you will, Sonic '06 became a sentient being and its flaws were exerted across all of Mobius.
When Sonic's love interest Elise is pointed out, Sally (as his true love) is enraged and gets in a fight with her.
Unfortunately, Sally loses due to Elise being GLITCHY AS FUCC BOIII

Tense! I can imagine that they are not only worried about Sally's injuries but also about the fact that someone might find them. This sure is showing how hard it can sometimes be to fight as a freedom fighter. O_o But I can see from their strong expressions and poses that there's no way they're going to give up!Β The contrast, modern city area full of light vs. the dusty, grey streets, helps to understand the idea here even better.Β

I remember Sally from the Sonic cartoon show, I always liked how that show's backgrounds were very cyberpunk ...
It reminded me of "Ghost in the shell" and "Akira" I really think that awesome cyberpunk look is captured really well in this artwork.
