Description THE LEGEND OF ZELDA © NINTENDO

Their Destiny Was Foreordained is the result of two months and a half of hard work so for the sake of all three Hylian goddesses FULL VIEW PLEASE

Now seriously ^^ The story behind this huge amount of hours of drawing starts when the young and naïve GoblinPrincess (that’s me ) fell in love with the amazing charms that *YellerCrakka makes, specially the Zelda ones So this lad and naïve goblin asked The Charm Master for a trade, but not a trade like the ones he uses to do and deserves to receive – a material one, but an exchange for a drawing. Surprisingly, *YellerCrakka said “yes” and asked for something similar to my Soul and Heart of Hyrule . By the time I was playing “Ocarina of Time” again, I think, and I liked his idea of drawing the Triforce goddesses again.
But by that time I had made another Zelda drawing, Our Destiny , for a contest about love – just in case you’re interested, it received no votes at all The idea behind was that Link and Princess Zelda are destined to meet each other as carriers of the Triforce, but in a romantic view
That idea was still on my mind – as the lack of votes it received – so I decided to make the new drawing in the same half-chibi style of “Our Destiny” but including Ganondorf, the third chosen, to complete the legend. This was more or less my general objective.
Last but not least, I also thought about Ganondorf as a godly chosen – I mean, what were the goddesses thinking about to choose such an evil man? So my sketch showed Ganondorf taking the Power Triforce by the force from Din (you’re right, he’s not here anymore... because of technical troubles ) and both Link and Zelda being chosen by Farore and Nayru to protect Hyrule from him as heroes and receiving their respective Triforces instead of taking them by themselves.

I hadn’t drawn a group for ages, so it was fun to decide the postures of the two pairings – Link offering his hand to Farore and Nayru taking Zelda’s to kiss it. Even more, Nayru’s the very first character in profile that I’ve ever drawn more or less well, so I’m very proud of her appearance And designing everyone’s clothes was refreshing too ^^

Note: “Their destiny was foreordained” is a quote from “X/1999” by Clamp, as you may have noticed. I have always liked that quote and it fits the drawing, doesn’t it? X3

This deviation was originally made from three different, matching drawings: Farore’s Wind , Nayru’s Love and Din’s Fire .

And *YellerCrakka says:
I love this so much, it's just perfect, it is exactly what I was looking for! I especially adore the coloring, there's just so much depth to things that are colored in real media that you just can't capture with a digitally colored piece. I don't know how you got them to all match to nicely with each other, whenever I make a group of characters like that, I can never keep the sizes and proportions so close. ;_; Also the poses and little details, everything shows a lot of skill! I hope you make more drawings like this, it's really one of my favorite things in my whole favorites collection!

That is cute ^^

Did you know however the Goddesses and the myths around it were actualy a later addition to the Zelda mythos? Originaly, there would have been a Fantasy Christianity-Monotheism (Ruler of Cool, like Neon Genesis Evangelion), as shown by the cross on Link's early art and his shield, and the magical cross and holy book.. er magical book items.

Thank you ^_^

Actually, I don't think that the cross on Link's shield had any special meaning and even less a connection to Christianity... Also, holy and/or magical books are not Christian creations either. Adding myths was logical only when videogames got complicated enough, with actual plots and so, and the green+wind+courage, blue+water+wisdom and red+fire+power appears in many Japanese series, so it makes far more sense as the original intention than your Christian theory.

The problem is, I think, it came from the original japanese sources and designers - the magic book in I was a bible, or something vaguely like it.

I never said it was a = match and such, its more like Evangelion use a vague understanding of biblical myths, esoterism of the west - kabbalah and all in a Rule of Cool trope. Few, very few japaneses are christians, and Christianity-etc is as exotic to them as Buddhism and pals to us (or old paganism...).

But anyway.

Yes, I'm a fan of Evangelion and Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, so I know how exotic Christianity is for them I still see kind of weird that that was their idea, but I guess it's not completely random.
Maybe I sounded too agressive or something... but lately I've got pretty tired of Christian symbols being everywhere and so many people thinking that it is the only damned religion in the world.

but it's still awesome ^_^

If you had (o have had ) the patience to read my comment, you'd know he was in the original sketch, but at the end he was too difficult for me to draw - actually, there was not even space for him in the paper And it looks weird without him even more for me, because he was also one of the reasons for making the whole drawing.

Thank you very much ^_^

i'm sorry for the late comment...
you asked me for a critique right?
well, here we go...
first and foremost, your style is very cute. i like the way you drew their eyes, they're lovely. also, one thing i notice in this drawings are their hands... very dynamic. You drew them in different angles and that's good. body proportions are also okay, the clothes are well designed and are fitted for each character. the only thing that is lacking in this piece is the realistic colors... they lack shadows that's why they look very 2D. It lacks depth, no light source. it will look more realistic if you apply combinations of lots of colors, for example... the skin, you can use yellow for base color, apply it lightly, by the way the way you color is very smooth and even..I like it, next you can apply flesh on top of the yellow, mix them well, then apply burnt sienna for the shadow, you can also
add a bit red for their cheeks, elbows and knees. adding a background will also make a 3D effect

Hey, you remembered!
I'm so happy you're around again ^_^ Thank you very much for your concern, it's very kind from you.

I draw this during summer and I had a lot of time to try new things, and it was also the first time I had so many characters in a single drawing, so I had to make them differ and I tried thousands of hand angles I'm so glad so noticed.

About the colours, I must say, as always (and as you already now because of your own experience) that the original doesn't look like the scanned version - scanners were created to ruin our works!
But your ideas for colouring the skin are great and I'll try them next time, I promise ^_^ Well, I think I don't have that "burnt sienna" among my colour pencils, but I guess a darker orange than the one I usually use should work similar enough, doesn't it?

And the people in the club in which I tried to submit this drawing said something about the lack of background, too From now on I'll try to draw backgrounds, although I can promise nothing about the quality...

Well, thank you very much for your help, my dear senpai

Yay, comments
I'm so happy I included all of them in the author's comments

Well, let's go step by step:
I'm so glad you like the traditional colouring ^^ I mean, I've always used coloured pencils, but the scanned versions never look as good as the original, and many things that look great "in real life" do not look so OK when the scanner lightens them... but my new wonderful scanner was very nice to this drawing
About the sizes matching and so... it was hard I made sure every character had the same size on the paper and them I modified all of them the same way; but as I was drawing the only reference I had was their heads being as big as everyone else's No kidding, it worked!
I feel HONORED you like this drawing so much You've been really kind to me and I thank you (for the umpteenth time ).

That's really, really cute. I love your eye style. It's simpley aadorable! even though my favorite color is blue, I must say the green one came out best and so I like it most. Great job.

Wow, thank you very much
I changed my eye style few time ago - I used to imitate Detective Conan's and I did it like that for years, but I tried these with a drawing of Mimi and she looked so adorable I made it "official"" ^^
I'm glad you liked Farore, I like her very much too, she looks sweet Thanks.
