Description What happens when *GoblinQueeen can't sleep? Well, this is a good example Tuesday night, I was having trouble sleeping, so at about 5 am, I finally got up, opened painter and started...this. It really started out as a random doodle and color experiment, but then, the more I played with it, the more I kept getting ideas of who the character in the portrait was, why it would have been taken...and before I knew it, this whole story started forming in my head. I was going to just include it in the deviation, but it got longer and longer and while it's not really terribly long, only 5 pages, it still seemed a bit long to just tag in here, so I'll be uploading it as a seperate deviation. You can read it here: [link]

He-he, very nice, and cute. Beautiful warm colors.

Don'tcha hate it when a little figment of imagination starts clawing at the back door or your mind at some odd hour?

So Tinkerbellish-ly cute. X3 Getting up early in the morning to draw is fun, and so is developing characters.

Half of the time when I'm drawing an original character, I begin to form strange stories around their existence too.

I really like that style, I have trouble using multiple colors for shading, but that's really nice.

Wow, I think I like the colored version even better than the sepia one .... ^_^ The blue shadows really help give her that magical quality.

This was painted in Painter with the oil brushes. If I paint traditionally, it's usually oils as well.

YAY! *happy painter dance* She's damned cute! *grins* Sorta like a Betty Boop Meets up with a Jessica Rabbit Elf. and you have a great many of my favorite colors goin on in it too, what's not to love?

- yummy color alert - That particular shade of pink you have going on the right (nearest the camera) arm? I will often use that, and variations on that tone (mixed with brown here, or a little more purple there) as a cooling element on my skin tones when I use a 'heavy" pallet. You'll see it used a lot on the one I just tossed up actually. If you didn’t save the pallet on this one, you may want to go back and do so, if only for that shade. It's a keeper!

Okay, nerdy paint girl is done now

Oh definately, pinks and oranges can be very useful. They're bright enough to push something forward, but not so much so that it looks forced. They're fun to play with

Bah.. Re-reading my nerd alert made me aware of just how pretentious I sounded. I’m sorry *kicks a pebble* Wasn’t my intention really, I just sort of get all wrapped around the axel when it comes to Painter and colors I'm still trying to come to grips with color in general and when I saw one I recognized and actually used a time or two I got all 'babbly' *grin*

...No more color comment hijacking, promise

lol, oh, no worries at all We're artists, we work on emotion and impulse and more than anyone, we're the mostlikely to say whatever is on our mind. I didn't find the comment pretentious in the least, though
