What happens when *GoblinQueeen can't sleep? Well, this is a good example
Tuesday night, I was having trouble sleeping, so at about 5 am, I finally got up, opened painter and started...this. It really started out as a random doodle and color experiment, but then, the more I played with it, the more I kept getting ideas of who the character in the portrait was, why it would have been taken...and before I knew it, this whole story started forming in my head. I was going to just include it in the deviation, but it got longer and longer and while it's not really terribly long, only 5 pages, it still seemed a bit long to just tag in here, so I'll be uploading it as a seperate deviation. Half of the time when I'm drawing an original character, I begin to form strange stories around their existence too.
I really like that style, I have trouble using multiple colors for shading, but that's really nice.

This was painted in Painter with the oil brushes. If I paint traditionally, it's usually oils as well.

- yummy color alert - That particular shade of pink you have going on the right (nearest the camera) arm? I will often use that, and variations on that tone (mixed with brown here, or a little more purple there) as a cooling element on my skin tones when I use a 'heavy" pallet. You'll see it used a lot on the one I just tossed up actually. If you didn’t save the pallet on this one, you may want to go back and do so, if only for that shade. It's a keeper!

Oh definately, pinks and oranges can be very useful. They're bright enough to push something forward, but not so much so that it looks forced. They're fun to play with
