Description I've been meaning to do this piece for awhile, but finally got to it tonight (mainly to procrastinate on my Maya work some more). A loving tribute the great Japanese illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, probably best known for his work in development for the Final Fantasy game series, though he has worked on many other projects. If you don't know his work, run a quick web search. You should come up with pleanty of results and it's definately worth checking out. I won't be so arrogant as to say I think I've faithfully recreated his style, just as I said, paid a respectful (I hope) tribute to it.

Pictured is Yuna and Valefort from Final Fantasy X. It's a very poinent moment in the game (if you haven't played it, I won't spoil it for you) but it seemed like a moment thet lended itself perfectly to Amano's style.

Medium: Pencil sketch colored in Photoshop.

Woooow.... When seeing the thumb for this in your gallery, I thought to myelf, "Hey, that looks like the concept sketches for FFX." I think you definitely got the style right.
This is just lovely. This scene is my favourite FMV in the game.

I love that wing... wow. Ahem. The coloring is fantastic, as usual. I especially like the way you left Yuna all white. She looks so beautiful against the warm colors in the erm, esper (I've been playing FF6 & can't remember what the summons are called in FF10...!)

The more I look at this, the more I like it. There's so much to take in... and it's strange, even with the sketchiness, there's something about this that makes me think of old paintings -- on silk screens. Hmm.

I'll put up some of it in Scraps. All in all, I'm not too happy with my work and I think I have finally found a media I really don't enjoy working in....

lol, yeah...I do try to expose myself to as much as possible though, just this Maya thing...I'm not sure it's for me. I mean, I'll give it a shot, but IK handles and rotation axises...not really up my alley.

That's good; it never hurts to try something new, so I'm going to keep working with it as well. Certainly feels different than the art I'm used to!

Don't get me wrong or anything, this picture is fucking great (better then what I can draw) But I really don't think you got the Ammaro style down patt. His seem to, I don't know flow more or something (i'm just ranting and sounding like an idiot so I'll just stop now)
