My half of an art trade with ~Rakugaki-otokoThe rules of this art trade were as follows:
Both of us would name an anime, and the other would draw it in the old style of Tetsujin 28-go/Gigantor as best we could.
The anime assigned to me by him was Neon Genesis Evangelion, which I'm sure he did because he knows I fucking hate that series and its legacy.
Took two nights and a day fidgeting back and forth to turn the butt-ugly EVA 01 into a 50s super robot, and I'm still not satisfied with it. Looks like a Medabot, more than anything else. Why would a robot have a working mouth? What're you, Metal Gear REX?
I'm really frustrated with how this one turned out - strange, since it was my idea for the theme in the first place. I'll let him choose next time.

I think you've done wonderfully with the concept you were assigned, despite hating it. (Honestly, I didn't know you don't like Evangelion.)
negative criticism first, Im not too fond of how you did the Eva either. It's drawn very well, of course, but you didn't really get the 50s/60s anime robot feel to it. I think what it is is that there are too many small details in it. A bit more simplicity is needed, I think. Great job on the shading on it, though!
Also, Shinji works perfectly with this old style, haha. The title is believable, and that little blurb is pretty entertaining.
I'll also note that the background is great! Looks like something right out of Gigantor.
Evangelions need working mouths to eat, silly. Have you seen the series?
