This illustration was done by me and Tetsuo Hara, during the summer of 2006, while I was living and working as a manga-assistant in Tokyo, Japan.

This particular illustration was done for the volume 13 of 'Fist of the Blue Sky' back-cover.

The original pencils were drawn by Tetsuo Hara (creator of Fist of the North Star and various fighting game characters), and then they were handed to me where I scanned it into Photoshop via a Japanese iMac (which in Japanese, including Photoshop, and I didn't speak Japanese at the time, so I had a real tough time working in Photoshop until I started learning how to read and speak Japanese.).

I then inked the drawing in Photoshop and proceeded to color under the inked layer. I also designed the pattern for the layout as a seperate file, which I actually did for most of the main characters and their awesome Chinese garb, it was fun most of the time.

The final product took me around 16 hours of 'hit-and-miss' coloring. Since I didn't know exactly what the creator was looking for, I just kept trying different things, showing it to him, and honing in on the right color and technique that he was looking for.

In the end, it was sent to a couple of girls in Okinawa who touched up somethings and added digital text for the back-cover of the Souten no Ken (Fist of the Blue Sky) volume 13. -That version is not shown here-

I might retouch and post some other images from my time at Art Hara fairly soon, so please check those out if you want to learn more about the manga studio
