I was commissioned by a Swedish based design company (who I techincally work for as a contracted part-timer) to design a layout for the American film, 'Ten Inch Hero'.So I did.
Unfortunately, the DVD manufacturer decided to use an alternate cover that makes the film look like a dramatic, depressing movie with dead bodies... rather than an indie comedy (which is what it is).
Oh well.
I'll be doing more covers for that company in the future.

I know it may sound a bit weird, but... what sort of design company is the one that commissioned you to make this cover?
I mean, are they centered on design in general or more specifically with this type of entertainment material, like dvds and all?
... I'm really sorry to be bothering you with this. I'm a graphic design student, I'm totally obsessed with entertainment design, like covers and posters, and working with this sort of thing is a personal dream of mine... but I haven't got a clue what kind of agency or studio handles this kind of artwork. So, I thought you might have some info on that...
I really liked your cover, by the way! I've seen that movie twice already, I love it!

thanks! well, i just happened to get a proposition from a swedish based design company who liked my work after viewing a portfolio that i had posted on myspace.
it really is just all about connections, effort and luck in this industry... a good mixture of the three.
you can always make fake movie posters or dvd covers and post them around the internet and submit them to dvd production companies or design companies who often create for film releases.
keep your head up and just investigate who and where are the best places to show off/submit your talent to. eventually someting will turn up
