Thank you for yet another donation to the #S-S-S-S-S-Squad 's gallery!
I haven't read the Archie Comics in a while (Robotnik's defeat disappointed me and Iron Dominion failed to grab my attention), but what I've heard has been going on recently really intrigues me. I'll have to get myself to catch up some time. That said, we all know Sally's gonna unroboticize eventually. When she does, I hope it's something like your scene. While Sonic Team itself seems to have on interest in letting anyone but Sonic do anything, the Archie Comics have been pretty good about letting other people save the day, if in smaller ways that Sonic does.
While I don't doubt Sally will play a big role in her own saving, I doubt we'd get the Sally-Metal Sonic showdown simply because of how Archie portrays Metal Sonic. MS isn't so much a character as much as it is a dime-a-dozen minion that dies every issue. I know there was another Metal Sonic in this series with a cool story arc, but it still disappoints me that the MS that more closely resembles the one from the games isn't being used to its fullest potential. I doubt MS would ever get to duel Sally of all people or, even if it did, it'd be kind of a one-sided fight and not very climactic.
All complaining aside, awesome idea here. I really like how Mecha Sally and Sonic turned out here. Gotta love how Sonic always has that smirk on his face.
I'm not sure if I told you, but #S-S-S-S-S-Squad is holding its first contest now through January 31st. If you're interested and have the time for it, you can find deets on the contest here, [link] .

Thank YOU for again deeming my work worthy enough to be featured in 's gallery. ^_^
Yeah, Archie has at least a somewhat respectable track record of giving other characters their due, but I admit the way things have been playing out thus far it seems unlikely. Even if it doesn't play out that way in the Comic, though, I'll always have this scene in my mind to live out, if that makes sense. ^_^
I actually kind of like that Metal Sonic is, at this point, pretty much treated as a disposable foot-soldier; I realize it feels like a downgrade for the character, and it is, but it also tracks with how, with the exception of the Metal Sonic who would become Shard, Metal Sonic's never really BEEN a character, but instead a tool, destructible but also perfectly replaceable. The more times said tool has come back, the less threatening it's been; its current status is thus only too logical.
And yes, Sonic's smirk was an important piece of the pic to me; it's his "I knew you could do it" smile. ^_^
Thank you for telling me about the contest; I don't know if I'll have time for it, but it sounds like a lot of fun, and if I CAN enter, I absolutely will.

We don't have enough Mecha Sally pieces in our gallery, so the pleasure's all ours! You'd also be surprised how many people never respond to these requests and the one or two that outright denied them, so thank YOU for responding!
The games used to be good about giving other people something to do, especially Adventure through Heroes, but those are days behind us now; it's a shame to hear that Archie seems to be falling under the same influence. When you have a long-running comic filled to the brim with characters, you simply can't have just the hero doing everything. Aside from being repetitive, it insults every other characters' strengths and expertise. But yes, I know what you mean about having this scene to live out. I have a few such fantasies myself that keep me entertained.
It makes sense that Metal is the way it is, but I was always hoping that one of them would stand up and become the "real" Metal Sonic. The MS I know and love was technically only in Sonic Heroes, but that game defined the character for me. Anything short of a robot with an identity crisis just isn't cutting it for me, no matter how much sense it makes for the comics. As for Shard, I've seen pictures of a robot that looks like Metal Sonic copied Gemerl's data and color scheme. However, it looks like it has Uncle Chuck's face, so I thought it a Robian rather than a truly-robotic Metal Sonic. What exactly is Shard?
It's just not Sonic if he's not smirking.
Thanks for your interest! I know how busy this season can get, so it's cool if you can't make it. Hopefully you can make it though 'cause I'd love to see what you come up with.

Thank you for being so open and honest about the gallery and how it works.
Such is the natural risk of a cast of that size; with so many characters, it can be all but impossible to find something for EVERYONE to do. There's something to be said for using the main character as a focus, but it does get to be pretty annoying when that focus becomes all-consuming; just ask "Dragon Ball", with its countless numbers of deadweight side-characters. Still, that's why God made fan-work; if canon can't acknowledge the rest of the cast, we pick up the slack.
And I can definitely see why that's frustrating; "Sonic Heroes" remains about the only time Metal's been given a proper character (even the OAV version only got one at the very end, just in time to die lD; ), and consequently it must be very difficult not to see that idea expanded upon elsewhere. And Shard's deal is that he is the Metal Sonic who attempted to kill Sonic and Tails shortly after the events of the comic's "Sonic Adventure" arc only to sacrifice his life to save them instead; Uncle Chuck found and repaired him, and thus was born Shard.
Very, very true. X3
Thank you for being so understanding, and I hope I can indeed make it in time. ^_^

Pleasure's all mine. If you ever have another piece you feel is Squad-worthy, don't be afraid to submit it!
Man does Dragonball ever suffer from that! If you're like me and found out about the series through the DBZ anime, you'd have never known that Killin served a purpose at one point! Fortunately, I think one of the main reasons Sonic Universe was launched was so that some of the other peeps could get some screen time; it might just take a little while for everyone to get their turn given the size of the cast. Although nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing something in canon, fanon can make a good substitute, especially if it's made by a talented fan or gains wide enough recognition. For example, I never played much of the Mario or Starfox games, but I read some fanfictions based on them that, if anything, would make me disappointed the games couldn't match their quality.
I hear MS was up to some shady dealings in Sonic Free Riders, but doesn't talk the entire time. I might have to look into it to get my Metal fix. I'd love so badly to see MS get another good role in the games, but they're clearly too humorous these days for someone as disturbed as Heroes-Metal Sonic; I was hoping the comics could make up for it, but it makes sense how MS works in their continuity. I knew there was a MS that had a bigger role in the comics a while ago, I just never knew he was rebuilt. What's Shard up to these days? They never mentioned him when I started reading (issue 175), so I fear he went the way most robots go in the Sonic franchise...
It's no problem at all. I already have two entries and, to be honest, that's two more than I thought I'd get. Take your time with everything; I'd hate to be the cause of you missing out on something.

Thank you sincerely for the offer, and I promise to do just that. ^_^
And yes, "Sonic Universe" has actually done a pretty good job giving characters outside of Sonic and his immediate sphere of influence some spotlight, a task at which it may not have been perfectly successful at thus far, but also hasn't failed at either.
I wouldn't know what Metal Sonic does in "Sonic Free Riders" because "Sonic Free Riders" looks positively dreadful and I want nothing to do with it. XD; As for Shard, he joined up with the Secret Freedom Fighters, a covert team led by Prince Elias, after Chuck repaired him; he's a fairly recent addition to the cast in his current identity (and his original incarnation was from prior to #175), so it makes sense you hadn't heard of him yet.
Thank you again for your understanding, and you have my sympathies. Again, if the opportunity presents itself, I will indeed enter. ^_^

Sorry for the late response, but I guess that's nothing new for us by now.
Again, thank you for your awesome art. Here's hoping we get to see more of you in the future.
That's good to hear. Considering how big Archie's cast is and how many of them are fan favorites, I can imagine it will take them a while to give everyone their limelight. Given all of the big events and character changes that have gone on recently though, I'm sure a lot of characters are in for some arcs of their own soon enough.
The first Riders was more than enough for me, so adding that to a Kinnect sounds like the only thing it was missing to go from bad to awful at super sonic speed. If I ever played that game, it would only be for Metal Sonic and because I wouldn't want to steal the good parts of the game by watching them online...Then again, I'd sooner pass a kidney stone than buy a Kinnect. As for Shard, it sounds like Elias' SFF is a recent development because he was the official monarch of Acorn last I saw him. If that's the case, I might yet get a Metal Sonic fix...even if Shard doesn't call it/himself "Metal Sonic." I read about Shard's story on a Sonic wiki a few years back, so I liked what I read about it/him. At the time of the wiki's writing, Shard was still dead and buried so if I ever wrote for Archie, I'd have had different plans for its/his return.
Whatever you have time for. Here's hoping to see you in the future, but I more than understand how responsibilities pile up. There will be more contests in the future anyway, I'm sure.

No worries, it's the Holidays; things get busy this time of year, I understand completely. ^_^
Here's hoping indeed. Thank you for your support and kind comments.
We're in the middle of a Chaotix arc right now, actually, and we've already had arcs for Team Dark, Tails, Bunnie, and Antoine, plus a special "Sonic Underground" issue coming soon. So yeah, generally speaking, I think "Universe" has spread the love nicely. ^_^
Yeah, I've never cared for the "Riders" series. lD; I'll just leave it at that for the sake of my calm good mood. As for the formation of the SFF, it is indeed very recent. By way of some underhanded political manuevering, Ixis Naugus was made King of Mobotropolis, so Elias went into hiding with the SFF's to help keep his people safe even without his Royal powers. I hope Shard provides you what you're looking for, in any case. ^_^
I shall indeed do what I can. Thank you for the opportunity, and I hope you had a Happy Holiday. <3

That might be a great direction to take it in. Though I admit, I haven't read the comic since the issue where she decided to sacrifice herself by being roboticized, which seems like it was ages ago at this point. O_o

Aww, it really isn't THAT bad lately; unrealized potential all OVER the place, sure, but the Art's lovely, and it's had some good dramatic moments. ;w;
Super happy you like, in any case. <3 I originally had Sonic looking much more forlorn, actually, but very quickly realized that didn't fit at all; much like Sal always knew Sonic would come back after he got "Tossed in Space", I feel like Sonic ultimately knows Sal would find a way to break free and would be happy at the affirmation. ^_^
