Or should I say, TreeD ?I entered another contest from Picarto! This month's theme was to have Yarni, one of their mascots, be in a autumn-themed scenery. I decided to pick a classic choice, a gorgeous forest with warm colours and freshly fallen leaves on the ground.

Every texture is digitally painted, no real images here! There are also about 2 million polygons, more than 20 000 leaves and plenty of trees in this scene. This is also my first try to work with particles in Blender
After using Blender for half a year, I decided to now actually learn it to make more 3D art like this! I hope I can make more things like this in the future, as I'm also currently making my character in 3D as well. Rendering these things are... less fun, as people who have notices my status updates and/or tweets have already found out

I've been doing 3D art for more than 3 years when I made this, and yeah, I might make more art like this, but they take ages to make

Congrats, Goomuin! Wow, 20k leaves...I can imagine the background alone would have been a lot of work! Yarni looks amazing too, her eyes especially came out nicely ^^ (the street signs are a neat touch!)

Well, I've actually only made 1 tree, copy-pasted them, altered them a bit, made 2 different branches to populate the end parts of the big branches of the tree with, and only 3 types leaves were used. Most of it was randomly placed using particles. I actually make it sound easier than it is, but it really isn't, I still have to tell the program where it has to place the leaves for example, and this huge amount will make everything slow! That's the whole trick with this kind of 3D scenes: reusing assets without making it too obvious to see that everything is just a copy of each other
Yarni herself went through different versions as well, sh had a 3D mouth at first, but that looked very scary
