finally decided to post some of my old silver work, since i don't seem to manage to create anything new in the near futuresterling silver, opal, stag beetle antler
no stag beetle was hurt, i found this single piece in the woods
length 38mm
it's not likely that this ring will ever be worn by anyone

it's real and unvarnished, chitin is a quite stable material

Good use of insect parts...that's one heack of a beetle that came off of.

actually, the antler itself isn't that large, only 13mm long, so it must have been a young one
for comparison, the antlers on this impressive male are 25mm long

this is super awesome. Is the opal bezel set, or is it held in some other way?

the opal is just held in by the antler, but it's quite strong and reinforced with a piece of silver wire inside
i didn't learn this stuff, i did some experiments in bezel setting, but wasn't too successful, i mostly got an ugly edge

i really like it.... i saw it and i was like.. " ooooo...perty..... " maybe look for some more magical sticks and make pendants similar, cause i dont wear rings, but id get a necklace!

Interesting piece of craftsmanship you have here. I wouldn't mind having one of those myself. The stag beetle horn looks kind of like the back half of a fish!
