Description Started this piece just the other day and got done with it sooner than expected. In my quest to bring my tribal tattoo drawing skills back to what they used to be, I started doodling this at work on my breaks. Colored it at home in about 10 hours from start to finish.

I love exotic landscapes, nature, and places, so this piece is sort of inspired by that. Ultra-fine Sharpies on plain 8.5 x 11 paper. NO PRE-SKETCH in pencil.

Love this! Though it's not perfectly symmetrical it seems to be design-wise and it makes it so compelling to look at.

Thank you! I used to do perfectly symmetrical pieces back in the day when I did op art and designed tribal tats. I don't like to do it any more because it takes away the flow and freedom that I want. I would rather it be a little off kilter than straight any day.

There is so much happening here, a carnival riot of shapes and colors and the infamous beads! The trees begin to take on dancing shapes, almost waving "veils" of leaves. As always, I enjoy your signature "puzzle pieces" in the background and the entire organic build process you are so good at, starting at a certain point, and letting your "dance" just fill the page! Bravo, Lu!

'Carnival riot'....prob the best pairing of words I've heard in a long time! lol My daughters joke that I draw trees all the time. I agree that I do, but I love to draw trees. Trees grow and move and twist and turn, and I can allow myself artistic freedom with them. I can use them in a myriad of ways and meanings. This one was tricky bc I wanted to keep it symmetrical, but not perfect. I wanted it to have the illusion of being perfectly symmetrical when you glance at it the first time, and then realize it isn't when you look at it closer. I did notice the proposed symmetry, and the differences are what first implies all the wild movement going on.
