Description Random lineart of Dottie and baby Hydra, of my xenorca species. In their underdeveloped story, I’m leaning toward the idea of a quasi-adopted-sister dynamic. Hydra grows to adult size relatively rapidly, thanks to her xeno genes, but only over one year’s time. Dottie chaperones the strange little creature, if only out of a morbid curiosity for whatever alien lifeform used her mother for a host. And possibly her attention sparks Hydra’s curiosity in turn, as to what it is to socialize and function effectively in Earth’s oceans.

Hum, this does raise concerns on Dottie's safety once Hydra matures. But I do like the idea of a less monstrous approach to xenos, at least when merged with orca DNA. I suppose through the course of a year Dottie might be able to read Hydra's behavior, even if they can't communicate by normal means.
Baby Hydra does look rather cute here, and Dottie looks good too. It's nice to see her again, I like to see the contrast between her skin and her light blue eyes.

It definitely wouldn't be "conventional" communication, for orca or xeno. Finding some hostile/not-hostile middle ground for them seems like it'd be more engaging than just a run-of-the-mill revenge plot. There's also the absent factor of Dottie's extended family, and what they would make of Hydra's presence. To them, it probably makes about as much sense as leashing a rabid animal. Hydra's unpredictability certainly wouldn't win them over. It's all very much work-in-progress, but the possibilities have got me thinking more of it now than I have in the last few years.

Thank you!
