Full GalleryAnd here it is! The first in my My Little Ponymon series is finally here, after far too long a wait. Each of these pictures has undergone quite a long and treacherous (?) journey in order to get here. First, I thought of the idea quite some time ago, then spent quite a lot more time with the ideas developing in a text document, with many of my initial ideas being completely scrapped. Then I sketched them all in pencil, making yet more last-minute changes. Then I scanned them into my computer and coloured the sketches, cleaning them up and, in some cases, modifying the proportions and Frankensteining extra bits on with the mouse, then posting them onto the Derpibooru forums. And now, I'm finally doing the lineart, making yet more fine adjustments, and ultimately thinking they could have been done better. Oh well. I'm pretty proud of the series as a whole, but there are one or two things I'm not 100% happy with. For example, the quality of the sketches in the first place (probably should have drawn them all out neatly again,) or the entirety of Rainbow Dash's evolutionary line.

I like the alternate evolutionary forms 
I would probably roleplay it as asking the ponymon myself which form she prefers.
I suppose having royalty bestowed upon you isn't something you choose, but whatever XD.
Each ponymon is different, I'm sure there are those with a preference of one fate/form or another

I propose a Psychic/Dark variant when leveled up while knowing the move Shadow Ball, to reflect the potential corruption of Dark Magic.

Like I said, I'm not hating. Although I will admit, I'd still prefer it if it hadn't happened. That was the driving force here just as much as me having fun.

Mainly because the episode where it happened kinda sucked. Anyway, it didn't really make sense since now she's a princess and has princess stuff to do and a princess castle to live in, so all she'd been learning about friendship and being with friends was kind of kicked out the window by her having the aforementioned other stuff going on.
... Except they didn't even do that in Season 4! Everything just sort of carried on much like it had been before, with strangers not even treating her with any extra respect for, you know, being royalty! So not only did they do something that would unnaturally introduce new and unnecessary drama to her character arc, they then ignored much of the drama, thus begging the question: why did they bother in the first place?
Then again, I haven't watched Season 5 yet, so maybe they improved.

... that would explain a lot, wouldn't it, the not watching S5 thing. Maaaan, you're missing out, big time.
I don't see any drama introduced for her in S4, though. All the drama was among overreacting crazy faustdamentalists, not in the show. And I still fail to see where people got that "all the previous friendship stuff is going to disappear forever" bit, which was explicitly disavowed at the earliest occasion and consistently proven wrong. People just refuse to listen to what the show actually is and says and watch it for what it is, and instead listen to the background noise in their own heads detached from that, it seems.

To chime in as a person who wasn't a fan of the change and still hasn't warmed up to it, it's an unfortunate move that time hasn't made seem any better. In S4 it made for jarring moments where the cast acted downright disingenuous to the events and its effects, and now in S5 they've had to effectively write Twilight out of the show because what do you really do when you've made a character that can do anything? Even in an episode like Amending Fences, the interactions have a hollow ring to them now that they're being tackled by what is in-world a mythical perfect creature that's royalty.
It's almost become a taboo subject at this point because of the call for silence whenever it springs up or to have everyone labeled as haters or drumming up drama, but, ehh -- like the change if it works for you, a lot of people seem to enjoy Twilight being raised on the ascension pedestal, but speaking personally it's never going to sit well.

I still don't exactly understand the "do anything" part - wasn't that the complaint that was always leveled at her to begin with? She hasn't grown any more powerful than she's been before, at least from what we can see. And I seriously cannot fathom how can people ignore everything Twilight is, and the fact that she's still the same Twilight, just because she has a princess title. Can't even enjoy the same Twilight that she's ever been, just because she has a title now? I just cannot fathom that logic jump. Same goes for the "mythical perfect creature" - that's pure S1-S2 fanon, my friend, and canon has never treated it that way.
Plus, Twilight has not been "written out of the show" - she still appears in just about every episode, and everything about her participating or not participating in something is addressed in-universe. However, we do need more individual, one-on-one interactions and joint adventures for the others, don't we? Hence the map missions.

But you might like to read my comment a little more closely: no, there wasn't drama or end-of-friendship stuff that happened. That was my point! Not only did they force a scenario that would introduce drama, they then mostly ignored it!

Therein is the logic leap you seem to make - that it "would" introduce drama. Because it did not and does not have to. It's how you take it, rather than what it is - and I refer you to "refusing to see something for what it is" point I made above. It's a heads-I-win-tails-you-lose complaint - you seem to take it negatively both because it "would" introduce drama and because it didn't confirm to your idea of how it would play out, all at once.

Okay, okay, I don't like where this is going. It just didn't feel natural and wasn't handled the way one would have expected it to be, alright? Now, I know my memory of Season 4 is far from perfect, but I still remember being dissatisfied with Twilight's character arc.
Now I'd like this discussion to end before it becomes an argument.

But it's hardly an argument. Still, I would suggest rewatching the season - after all, it's a fun thing to do. Still, that's the problem - watching the show not for what it actually is, but judging it purely against some very specific expectations informed by things that aren't even connected to the show, but rather taken from unrelated contexts... well, it's a great way to start hating the thing one used to love before for absolutely no reason.
And in the end, I can't tell others how to be, and vice versa. So it's all up to you, and you see where I stand.

Yes.

Possibly not. I was inspired to do these by two drawings by MTC-Studio , which were the same thing, but Celestia and Luna. I know I could never do better than those, so I'm leaving out the Princesses' evolutionary lines out of respect for him. That being said, I might consider covering them as unevolving Legendaries.

Would you happen to have links to the pictures you mentioned? Β I just tried to look through MTC-Studios gallery and I found it to be very expansive. Β There is no obvious folder that would lead me to 'Pony-mon' aside from 'Fanart', and they aren't there. Β I'm not asking you to look for it for me, but if you happen to know where it is I'd be grateful to be pointed in its direction.
