Description Nikola Tesla

The challenge in drawing portraits is the trap in getting in a pattern. Some interesting embellishments add more challenge to the portrait and make it more than just an exercise of trying to copy what you see. Tesla used to work for Thomas Edison, but due to differences, parted ways. Edison was a supporter of direct current DC. Tesla developed and pushed AC (alternating current) electrical systems.

Edison probably would not like how I placed Tesla in his light bulb... oh well... the feud lives on.

10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was an inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems, including the polyphase system of electrical distribution and the AC motor. This work helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.

Born an ethnic Serb in the village of Smiljan (now part of Gospić), in the Croatian Military Frontier[1] of the Austrian Empire (modern-day Croatia), Tesla was a subject of the Austrian Empire by birth and later became an American citizen.[2] Because of his 1894 demonstration of wireless communication through radio[citation needed] and as the eventual victor in the "War of Currents", he was widely respected as one of the greatest electrical engineers who worked in America.[3] He pioneered modern electrical engineering and many of his discoveries were of groundbreaking importance. In the United States during this time, Tesla's fame rivaled that of any other inventor or scientist in history or popular culture.[4] Tesla demonstrated wireless energy transfer to power electronic devices as early as 1893[citation needed], and aspired to intercontinental wireless transmission of industrial power in his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project.

Because of his eccentric personality and his seemingly unbelievable and sometimes bizarre claims about possible scientific and technological developments, Tesla was ultimately ostracized and regarded as a mad scientist by many late in his life.[5] Tesla died with little money at the age of 86 in a hotel suite in New York City.[6]

The SI unit measuring magnetic field B (also referred to as the magnetic flux density and magnetic induction), the tesla, was named in his honor (at the CGPM, Paris, 1960).

Thanks

There is little doubt that the genius of Tesla is getting a second look by many in recent years. He died in 1943 at the age of 60. It's amazing that he accomplished so much at a young age.

Yes, you actually caught that: TESLA LIT THE WORLD!!!!
With his inventions literally , with his moral, with his life: TESLA LIT THE WORLD.
Thank you for your interpretation!

Tesla actually lit the world with his AC. From his Niagara electrical station he lit 80.000 homes. But he had big 'disadvantage' - he was the SRB, and that means not catholic and not with English background. And that is enough for his inventions to be literally stolen from Marconi, Rendgen, US Government etc, not to be recognized and often to be owned by Edison.
He was STOPPED, his laboratory was burnt, because he wanted to give to all people FREE ELECTRICITY, but corporations and banks didnt like that. He had very good contract with Westinghouse, but he cried about money and Tesla ripped of the contract. Tesla was surrounded with financial sharks, and because of that he finished life as poor man. As all geniuses Tesla was very naive with people.
Tungus explosion was his work.

Yes, interesting man. Sad that he was not wise with the people with whom he had business dealings. History would have been written differently.

The greatest genius in history. But you drew the bulb invented by Edison. Tesla invented a better and different. Look for it in Google. Good drawing as well.

The drawing represents the irony that Edison got all the glory and Tesla lived in the shadow of Edison's achievements. Not many people understand it.

Part of the job of an artist is to find a subject worthy of spending the time to draw... Tesla deserves more than a few drawings. Amazing life he had.

I used to think not many people knew... until I did the artwork. It seems that a lot of people have seen something about Nikola Tesla on TV and were very impressed with his story as I was. What a fascinating individual. So tragic his life had so many difficult obstacles.

I like what some of the biographical information stated about him. I am sure that in that time everything about electricity was somewhat vague and mysterious. It is not surprising that Tesla sometimes looked as if he were performing in some odd circus of wonders.
