Description This picture has a really exciting file name: Crow.

Anyways, this was a request for an offsite guy. He said he liked my falcon, so I thought that he was going to ask me for a watercolor (which take forever). Nope. He wanted one "like the cow one". HAHA. PERFECT. This took me only half an hour, and that was while I was sitting on my bum watching MI-5.

Materials... Black construction paper, white soft pastel pencil, steak knife, and buckets of hairspray.

Wow! It's really lovely. It looks magical, especially with all those little star bits, and I love the bit behind its head no, I don't know why out of the whole drawing that's the bit I really really like XD

Thanks! It's the part I really like, too. XD I tried to draw it so it looked like a reflection off of a glass fishing float.

Thank you! I'm kinda a packrat with feathers. We've got a vase of flight feathers above the fireplace, so I see them a lot.

haha they're chalk! It was kinda fun to scratch them all onto the page.

Woah, that's pretty good for chalk! It almost looks like paint splatters to me, which is a lot of fun to do!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to crazedjacksparrowfan [2010-09-18 21:09:29 +0000 UTC]

I just ran a steak knife along the chalk, so the serrated edge took off little chips of chalk. And yeah, we eat with that knife... We'll all get chalk poisoning.

I hope you're in a science class lower than chemistry, but I have a feeling you're not. XD

Actually, I'm not much of a science person at all I've done the basics, but that's about it. However, I am flattered that you would expect me to be in a higher class

...So how much harder or easier would it be to draw a European crow instead?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to Windymon [2010-09-13 06:26:28 +0000 UTC]

Like a carrion crow? Depends on if I could find decent reference. XD But really, they're about the same, except around the neck and as far as beak-structure goes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Windymon In reply to GreyCorbie [2010-09-23 16:39:53 +0000 UTC]

The only real difference is that a European crow has a grey body, really...
(It's "my" crow and I loves it so.)

You call them carrion crows? Eeeh.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to Windymon [2010-09-23 22:28:19 +0000 UTC]

Hm. What species of crow are you referring to, exactly? I think we might be talking about different things.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Windymon In reply to GreyCorbie [2010-09-26 19:57:37 +0000 UTC]

Aw, derp. Appears that what I've called a crow all my life is this guy: [link]
It *was* once considered a sub-species of the carrion crow though.

Jackdaws are pretty awesome too, they live in huge...murders? (Since they are a crow species.)

theres a great feeling of movement in this, and the chalk splatter thing works well

and whats MI-5 exactly? I never thought they'd bother making a show about our secret service.

GreyCorbie In reply to The-Wandering-Ranger [2010-09-09 21:55:16 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! HAHA chalk splatter, that's a bit of a contradiction there XD

[link] <--I think that probably explains, but yeah, it's pretty much what you'd think it would be. Just in case you ever get tired of the terrorists in the real world, ya know.

GreyCorbie In reply to The-Wandering-Ranger [2010-09-10 21:53:58 +0000 UTC]

XD Yeah, it's called MI-5 here, I think because in the US, "spooks" is a racial slur. I LOVE IT TOO! I'm just still pissed that they killed off Zaf... I haven't got to that episode yet, but I love that guy. *headdesk* Grr.

It's not, really. A few shows are. I'm glad that one is.
