Description This sucks, because my camera died, and my phone can't capture detail or lighting well. Blah.

Anyways, I like crows a lot, so I painted one in watercolors. I used [link] for reference.

Beautiful drawing! I love crows, they are really pretty and smart birds!
(though a lot of people around here hate them because they canΒ΄t "sing"- which I find pretty ridiculous, humans can also be noisy!)

It is so beautiful! Can I use it for my tattoo? It would be a little bit different, but your painting is almost perfect. I was searching for some crow designs and it's the best thing that I've found! sorry for my english

Of course! I'm pretty honored that you'd consider using part of this. And your English seems perfect to me

Ffft, this is definitely one of my favourite drawings. You just captured the black-but-shinyness of it's feathers perfectly (do I spot some slight hints of purple there?), as well as that beady little eye with its awesome reflection.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to RustyBlou [2012-09-18 03:55:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty happy with this one, too. Thanks! Actually, there is no purple I did this in only black. I was too lazy to do it properly.

RustyBlou In reply to GreyCorbie [2012-09-18 15:43:13 +0000 UTC]

Then my eyes must be playing tricks on me! Or it's the lighting. But it's very cool nonetheless.
Don't be lazy Al. Not with the art. *glaaare*

I actually have tons of assignments for Art History I'd like to do... we can actually make some stuff for that class! So exciting!!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RustyBlou In reply to GreyCorbie [2012-11-14 19:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Ooh that is exciting!! So you can draw artsy history stuff? Or only for specific subjects (like art history?).
I wish my school work required art - then I will have an excuse to draw more often. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to RustyBlou [2012-11-14 20:08:41 +0000 UTC]

It's more trying specific styles, like cubism and effing crap like abstract expressionism. Not that fun if you like objective stuff. It's not required, either... and I might not even get the extra credit point for it, since I'm not an art major.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RustyBlou In reply to GreyCorbie [2012-12-05 07:53:42 +0000 UTC]

Cubism. Abstract expressionism. Eeew. Not really my kind of thing.
It sucks that you may not get the extra credit though - art major or not, you still did the work. But it's not how it works... sigh

Corvids... You gotto love em.. or they be stealin your goodies..
Your perspective improved a great deal.. leave alone your colouring.. Shades of black and nice touch of grey.. you see every detail while you can easily see the differences, layers and 3 dimensions.. only the head and the neck makes you remember and makes it a 2d graphic work... try to catch the same volume with the neck also its very important. Left leg has the same problem but its small detail and hardly ever gives such feeling and in itself its form is quite good that no one will really notice I guess.. It might have been a tad larger.. small small a bit..
well done me says

GreyCorbie In reply to Civis-Romanus-Sum [2012-07-12 08:23:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Civ! And thanks for the cit.

The neck really does look better in real life You're just going to have to trust me on that one. I took the photo with my phone, and it didn't quite capture everything like it should have. Hm. Yeah, that leg gave me trouble, too. Not much I can do about it now, though.

I'll never be able to see crows in the same light since Game of Thrones.. xD

You should definitely consider drawing more, perhaps simpler, less detailed doodles to get people's attention with? You can have them help you decide which one to invest more time into.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyCorbie In reply to DAttila [2012-06-30 20:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Okay...

Why? Are you saying you don't like this one? Dude, I draw for myself. I love crows - they're my favorite animals, just about. If you or anyone else had told me to quit this one, I'd have laughed at you and stayed the course, to use a Bushism.

I don't draw because I want to be popular. If I started drawing something "less detailed", I'd probably just end up making it detailed anyways. I'm a perfectionist - I don't halfass stuff.

Oh whoa Fearnando, this has to be one of my favourites of yours! That black is just so velvety and shiny, and the way the light shines off the feathers, and the way the whole thing looks just so 3D, and the splashy corner things and just EVERYTHING, so pretty!

I GOT A COMMENT!!! YAAAAY!!!

Thank you! I actually liked making this one. Shocking, really, because I haven't been enjoying drawing much, lately. I'm glad you think it turned out well! I thought of adding color (would be more artsy), but in the end, I just ended up using black.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Amadoodles In reply to GreyCorbie [2012-07-01 20:26:12 +0000 UTC]

YES FEARNANDO OF COURSE YOU GOT A COMMENT

What? Not enjoying drawing much? Shame on you Fearnando, shame on you. Black is an awesome colour (or as my dear art teacher would say, shade, not colour >_> ) It goes with everything.

I wear black a lot. For that exact reason!
