Just some more sketches following on the theme of the last pic. I think I figured out who she is and all.
Because Magical girl type characters always need a monster to fight, I gave her some. They closely resemble the ice you get coating tree branches just after a freezing rain.

(I'm gonna call the lady Snow for now, but that's subject to change) She's not actually magical, but she is a guardian. In her world, these ice-like creatures are a huge threat, because while they look cold they prey on warm blooded creatures. Usually one of these things alone won't bother messing with one of the tiny villages, but they often swarm if left unchecked.

When one of Snows people decides they want to become a guardian, they are taken away to a special academy to train their guts out. Once they graduate, they are assigned to a specific town or city, where they are treated quite royally. These people have a profound respect for Guardians, as they are willing to put their lives on the line to hunt down these horrible creatures and keep their people safe. That being said, I think they are also sort of socially excluded. People are nervous talking to them, and they're sort of considered dead men/women walking. So the only relationships they ever really have are with other guardians, and sometimes their mentors at the academy.

I think that's the basis of why she would ever hang out with Piotr, our resident big nosed giant.
