Description
This is an alternate-history political map of the European Federation. Its history begins during the Interwar period ( also known as the Interbellum period ), in which Adolf Hitler had died before World War II ( WW2 ) began in the original timeline. As a result, the Nationalsocialist party was ruled by a more effective leadership, and did not have any radical racial policies. Not only that, but France, facing more severe economical problems, and seeing Germany recover rapidly from its sanctions and economic ruin, was facing increasingly stronger french nationalistic movements. It was not long before it would join the Axis alliance.

World War 2 began in around 1945, and ended not long after, with Germany's surrender to the Allies right before the Soviet Union could reach German core territories. France and Italy surrender to the Allies shortly before Germany. And, once again, it was peace. However, the Soviet Union still controlled Prussia, the Baltic states, most of Dacia, Poland ( Lechia ) and Czechoslovakia ( now Czechia and Slovakia ). And the defeated Axis powers, having lost most of their armed forces during WW2, were afraid of potential Soviet expansion. And so, to combat the Soviet threat, the European Federation was proposed. The proposal was soon accepted, and the European Federation was formed, despite protests from the United Kingdom.

Not long after the EF's formation, word arrived of the Soviet atomic weapons programme. The young European Federation decided to act fast and liberate the occupied European states from the USSR. And so, before the Soviet Union could produce and test any atomic weapons, the united forces of Europe's autocratic states, under the European Federation flag and banner, marched to war with the Soviet Union. The war was long and brutal, but the EF emerged victorious, ending the war by dropping the world's first atomic bomb on Stalingrad ( Volgograd ).

However, Great Britain ( United Kingdom ) took the opportunity to break away the European Federation, using the excuse of aiding their soviet allies. This, unfortunately, did not end well, as joint Norwegian, German, Dutch and French forces invaded England. Once they captured London, Scotland, Wales and Ireland were granted independence that they had always dreamed about, while England itself was put under the EF's joint control.

The result was that many nations were released, or have expanded. The Baltic states ( Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Prussia, Danzig ) became independent once more, and joined the European Federation. Ruthenia, Smolensk and Novgorod were put under military occupational control, until the states are ready to rule over themselves once again. The people living in these states would agree to join the EF in the coming months.

Prussia and England would be controlled by the Federal government- the council of the EF's nations. The former states of the United Kingdom would eventually join the European Federation.

Belarus and Crimea would also break away, if only to be re-occupied by the Soviets. However, even that would not go to waste, as the Caucasian states ( Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan ) would take the opportunity to declare independence. Two of which would join the European Federation soon afterwards.

Switzerland, Yugoslavia ( mainly a Serb ruled country, under Soviet Union influence ), Albania and Iceland would remain neutral European powers.

The European Federation is currently the strongest power in the world. It has the highest population, GDP and the strongest military. Its people enjoy incredibly good living conditions. The member countries of the federation enjoy equality among each other, being encouraged and able to maintain their cultural identities within the EF.

The ruling structures of the European Federation are housed in Berlin and Paris. Ever since the war with the USSR, the EF policies have changed for the more peaceful ways. The ideology ruling the EF is nationalism, encouraging its member states to recognise non-radical nationalist movements, while strictly opposing any kind of radical action. The foreign policy of the EF is non-interventionism.
