An unused concept sketch I did for the upcoming series "All Hail Megatron": a modern days cassette recorder Soundwave!(because microcassettes and recorders still exist).
Well, at least it's good as fanart

This could work. I would love to see a Classics/Generations figure based off this design. It just seems like a fitting update for the good ol' communicator. Bonus points for including Laserbeak and compatibility with Ravage!

Now THAT'S how to update a classic design while keeping the feel for the original. Superb work. Soundwave always was one of my favourite G1 characters (and the first Transformer I ever bought). Always thought he should have been more developed as the brains of the operation and that the reason the Decepticons kept losing was cos Megatron was an obsessive nutcase. If Soundwave had been in charge things would have been very different. God I'm such a geek.
Although I've got to admit, even though I can understand the reasoning behind it (play value and all that) I've always hated the idea of Transformers being able to shrink...stretches plausiability a bit too much for me...

I love and own the MP3 version, but I'd much rather have this on my shelf. This is my top favorite redesign of Soundwave! Period. A shame it was never used in the official fiction...

Been thinking about his design but i dont see this happening, ae least not in toy because the proportions are greatly exagerated (from the waist down)
the legs would end ub being much skinnier then on the pic since they are 1/2 od the arm thickness, upper legs would be evenn skinnier and the waist cannot fit in anywhere
Maybe you could work out some of these problems in a remake of this pic?
