Description I did this picture more or less just to test a technique. For Christmas I received the book "The Wildlife of Star Wars," which rocks like crazy. The artwork inside appears to be art design marker with possibly charcoal pencil...I wanted to mimic this, which works good for developmental artwork. The image is my alternate universe Turanga Leela on the cyclops world with her daughter Sara, and they've just discovered a new friend on the property. Leela is in a more formal outfit, complete with her family crest and colors on a sash around her neck. I'd like to come up with more wildlife at some point for her home planet. This was fun to do.

Thanks! I was trying to copy the style of that book; if you've never seen it, it's pretty interesting.

i've not seen that book, i'll search for it in a big book store of my city, but it is possible that they don't have it..
i remember i saw a book of monsters, with many drawings (some from star wars) a long time ago, perhaps it's the same book..

What this book is made up of are a lot of those developmental sketches for the movies...at some point they decided to make a book of them. I want to add more animals to Leela's world.

You know, Leela's kid does have fry's hair color... Does this mean he's the dad?

That's the way I've always had it...I never wanted Sara to be a carbon copy of her mother. Sara's brother looks like a smaller version of Fry.

Ah,good. I always liked the idea of Fry and Leela getting married.

In that particular set of stories, they are. In another universe I wrote about, Fry and Amy are married with two kids.

Hm. Did Leela marry anyone in that universe?

I don't think she did. The roles of Kif and Zapp were also reversed in that universe; Kif was the pompous womanizer and Zapp, who had black hair, was the underling.
