...Leela’s first encounter with Stephanie was to nearly run into her as she walked in through the front door.
“Oh, sweet Jesus…,” she blurted out.
Leela got a sour look on her face. “It’s the eye, isn’t it? You’ve never seen anyone with one eye.”
“No, I knew about the eye part.” Stephanie gently reached out and touched Leela’s ponytail. “No one told me about this hair color…you’ve got to tell me where you got it.”
Leela’s annoyance quickly melted away to pride. “This is my natural color,” she told her.
“You’re kidding…you were born with that hair? I’m jealous.” As Stephanie started to leave the building, she turned back to talk to Leela. “You probably think I’m just a stick in the mud for saying that.”
Leela chuckled. “I can tell now that you’re not…welcome aboard.”
Stephanie smiled and left for her lunch break.

Stephanie Talbot was a Futurama OC that sadly only featured in one of my stories - I will have to recitfy that one day. Smart and industrious, she became good friends with Amy's daughter, Annie. Born in Indianapolis, her father was American and her mother was from Togo; she is fluent in both languages (she often swears in Togolese). Her parents were belters, miners in the asteroid belt, so she spent a large part of her childhood in space. With this backround she quickly learned to repair just about anything that could be set in front of her. As Annie Kroker got to be a skilled welder, the two of them learned to keep the aged Planet Express ship flying. A couple of weeks ago I did this sketch [link] , and I knew I would have to finish out the uniform. Her skin is Prismacolor Mocha Dark, her uniform is Prismacolor Eggshell, her boots are Prismacolor Mocha Light, and her uniform trim is Copic E13 Light Suntan.
