Description Completed phoenix stencil.

that was a serious pain in my ass.

I'll be posting the painting sometime soon... probably.

handcut with an x-acto blade, a few hours a night for 3 nights.
Based on a chinese papercut design.

This is so amazing! After dragons, my favorite fantasy creature is a phoenix. I should upload my "snowflake" of dragons, which took me an hour to do because it wasn't all that complex, but still fun.

Yeah, I've got a scroll saw that I've been practicing with. I'm getting better with it but looking at what you did makes me pause a bit and think 'I need more practice!'

BTW, what is the stencil made out of?

omg, scroll saws are awesome! I wish I wasn't such a pansy when it comes to power tools, I'd love to learn how to use one.
You definitely can't compare cutting with an x-acto to using a scroll saw, I bet the scroll saw is WAY more difficult.

it's just cheap printer paper, which was a very poor choice on my part. I usually use card stock or plastic transparency sheets so that they hold up better. But this was a rush job.
