Description "Take this and enter the device. With this, I'll always be with you. Now go, and don't look back."
"Mom, what are you saying?!" Sephira could hardly register what her mother was telling her. With the Matter Transference Device activated, she had believed that they would be entering it together. Up until the last moment when her mother suddenly handed over her pendant and told her to go on alone.
"There isn't any more time. You have to go, now!"
Sephira's pupils narrowed as she slowly began stepping backwards just as the door flew open and in stepped their mortal enemy. Her mother wasted no time in throwing off the remains of her tattered cloak and attacking him directly. At that very moment, Sephira noticed what she had been hiding underneath it-

A bomb, strapped directly to her chest.

The man failed to notice the bomb thanks to the cloak thrown into his face. He growled like a possessed animal, clawing at the cloth and reaching out to grab his target. He managed to wrap an enormous hand around her neck, followed by the second and lifting her off the ground.

Even as Sephira watched her mother have the life strangled out of her, she managed to look back over at her daughter, managing to squeeze out one last word-

"GO!!!"

Despite her voice sounding weak, the power behind it was enough to push her along.

"Mom, I'm sorry!" Sephira refused to cry and held her mother's pendant clamped in both of her hands as she dashed headlong into the open portal. Once she had entered safely, her mother's final act for the sake of her daughter was to trigger the bomb, taking their enemy, the Matter Transference Device, and herself with it.

"(Please survive...)" Sephira thought as she stayed huddled in a fetal position as her body flowed through the passage between dimensions and clasped the pendant even tighter in her hands as soon as she noticed that what remained of her clothes started breaking apart and she realized that inorganic matter wasn't going to remain intact during the journey. "(Please...)"

Sephira didn't know when she'd passed out, but the chill of a cold, night breeze soon stirred her back into consciousness. Despite now being completely naked, she forced herself to sit up and pry her own hands open...

"Oh, thank God... Mom..." Sephira's tension melted away when she found the pendant fully intact. Despite her hands still shaking, she slipped it around her own neck. As the adrenaline from before had now worn off, the reality of her situation slowly dawned on her.

"Now what do I do...? Where do I go...? Mom... why...?" she hung her head low and began to sniffle.

...

"The sensors picked up the temporal disturbance around here..." Dyne muttered to himself as he investigated around the same clearing, "This is the second time we got that kind of reading. And if it's the same as last time... There!" he noticed the hunched-over figure in the shadows nearby.
"Are you all right?" he asked as he drew closer, making sure not to frighten whoever the figure was as he gently knelt behind it. "Don't worry, I'm here to help and- WHOA!" Dyne quickly averted his eyes as he realized he was very close to touching a girl who looked about 15 and wasn't wearing a shred of clothing.
At this same time, Sephira, who had barely registered the man's words, couldn't hold her grief in any more and began outright bawling, making Dyne feel even more awkward.
"It'll be okay, hon," he found himself saying, "It isn't much, but you can take my shirt and cover up a bit, at least."
"WWWWWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!" Sephira only continued to sob and bawl.
"What's going on over here?" Allie, who had joined the search after hearing the report of the temporal disturbance, asked as she approached the noise.
"A new arrival, Allie-chan," Dyne continued to avert his eyes from the crying girl, "though you didn't happen to bring a blanket or something?"
Allie shook her head as she too knelt next to the girl, "Oh, you poor dear," she placed her hands on the girl's shoulder to comfort her and let her cry as long as she needed to.

After a long time passed and Sephira began to calm down, Allie tried speaking to her again. "Something terrible must have happened, but you're safe here."
"You don't have to be afraid," Dyne continued, "several others in your situation have come through here, and we've never turned any of them away. I'll take care of you."
"You will...?" Sephira turned her head slightly to look at the man, only to gasp as a wave of recognition hit her despite never having seen who she was thinking of and only knowing him from her mother's description.
"What's your name?"
"Sephira..." she squeaked.
"That's an unusual but nice name," Dyne thought for a moment, "a combination of Sapphire and Zephyr would be my guess. Oh, and you can call me Dyne."
"Dyne...?" Sephira's eyes widened.
"And I'm Allie," Allie spoke from the younger girl's other side, causing her to fully turn her head and allow both of them to see each other's faces... and pendants!

While Allie gasped in slight shock at seeing a pendant exactly like hers, Sephira's reaction shocked the two adults directly to their core.

"Mom...?!" she turned back to get another look at Dyne and uttered one more word-

"Dad...?!"

Dyne and Allie looked at each other as an awkward silence fell over the group, but they were unable to ask the younger girl to elaborate as she slumped over once again, falling into a deep sleep from exhaustion.
