Description Everybody noticed that Sephira had been acting unlike herself for the past several days , especially in regards to trying to avoid leaving the campus as much as possible and, if she did, she seemed almost paranoid about being watched or tracked down and never wanted to go anywhere alone. She hardly ate and slept even less while jumping at even the slightest unexpected noise. As much as she insisted she was fine, her family knew otherwise but also dared not press the matter knowing they could damage her psyche if they broached the topic before she too was ready to face it.

Fortunately, Allie found her opportunity one afternoon when she found Sephira sitting alone on a bench in one of the gardens, looking somber but thoughtful despite the nervousness evident in her eyes.

"Who's there?!" Sephira snapped at attention, still sounding shaky.
"It's just me," Allie shot her soft smile.
"Oh, Mo- Allie," she sighed in relief.
"Can I sit with you?"
"Okay..."

As Allie took a seat next to and looked at the face of "her" daughter, she figured now was as good a time as any to ask the question that had been on her mind after observing her unusual behavior.

"You saw 'him,' didn't you?" she asked head-on.

Sephira nearly jumped out of the seat and gasped before looking back over at the woman not much older than her and yet was able to read her just as easily as the much older version of her that was her mother had.

"How did you know...?" Sephira softly responded.

"Because," Allie slipped an arm around the younger girl's shoulders in a protective fashion, "I felt the same and went through the exact ordeal you're going through right now when I first saw this world's Parasyte."
"You did...?" Sephira thought for a moment before something clicked in her mind, "Of course you would have..."
"I was scared. I panicked. I lashed out. I was fortunate enough to have your aunts with me to hold me back. They told me several times that he wasn't the same as the one who took everyone dear to me, but-"
"The mind may know that, but not the heart..." Sephira finished her sentence for her.
"Exactly. You look like you've been thinking a lot about this."
"Uh-huh," Sephira nodded again, "when I first woke up after meeting him, I tried all night to convince myself it was just a bad dream. But..."
"That only forced your mind to confront the reality of it in more nightmares. Am I right?"
"Yeah..." Sephira began sniffling as she was wont to do before starting to cry, "I want to think I'll do better and stay myself if I see him again but... I'm scared... I'm so scared...!"

As the waterworks unleashed with Sephira finally admitting her current feelings, Allie simply wrapped her other arm around the girl and pulled her in closer to her chest to allow her to cry and release her repressed emotions. All she could do for now was hold her and stroke her hair.

Allie wasn't sure exactly how much time passed before Sephira began to calm down again, but when the younger girl lifted her head, Allie could see in her eyes a glimpse of her usual self again.
"Hey, Allie," she started, "will you tell me your story?"
Allie appeared taken aback at the question and, like Sephira, didn't like to think about her past circumstances due to the pain of loss she felt each time she did, but she soon realized that doing so could help her and Sephira connect in no ways that any of the others could and she could also probably use an emotional cleansing too.

The two stayed and talked for a long time as Allie explained her past: Much like the version of her that was Sephira's mother, she was married to the resistance leader against that world's Parasyte. The two of them plus their remaining friends staged a last-ditch suicide mission to prevent him from using a newly-created Matter Transference Device to reach and begin conquering other worlds. The details of it all remained seared in her memories to the point where she could see them far-too clearly in her mind, and the pain returned anew. As such, she was unable to give Sephira more than an overview but did all she could to fulfil her request. The one part she was able to repeat was the admonition from several of her fallen friends, "Live!" By the end of her recollection, Allie's face too was stained by tears.

"That Matter Transference Device..." Sephira winced as she thought about her past, "Mom told me that she and her team- my father included- managed to sabotage its construction, making Parasyte abandon the project when the test failed. I must have been conceived around then because my father disappeared soon after. But his final message to Mom was, 'If all hope is lost, use the Device,' and it had the instructions on how to complete and activate it." Much like Allie's companions, Sephira's mother gave her life to give Sephira the chance to enter the device by throwing herself at Parasyte with a dead-man switch bomb strapped to her chest so she could take him and the device with her as her strangled the life out of her, but not before Sephira could escape. Her mother's last words to her were, "GO!!!" but her final message to her had also been, "Live!"

When the two finished their respective stories, they noticed that they were both clutching their pendants with one hand while soft tears continued to fall.

"I feel kind of stupid now," Sephira wiped her cheek with the back of her hand, "Dad keeps telling me that tears are nothing to be ashamed of. They can safely carry away all of the excess emotions out of your soul to cleanse it, both good and bad."
"You and me both, honey," Allie smiled as she too felt a bit of relief from her heart having revealed what she had.
"Can I ask you one more thing?"
"Of course."
"Why did you and Dad believe me so easily when I told you both that I'm 'your' daughter? I could have been an impostor. I could have just been an assassin robot from the bad future sent to infiltrate and kill you."

"Even though our minds may not have believed it right away," Allie's smile lit up her entire face, "Our hearts did. We just knew."

Sephira opened her mouth to call that a dumb saying, then stopped herself. She was about to say something else when she felt a tugging at her sleeve. Looking down, she saw a small doll pointing her towards a flustered-looking Alice. Knowing she wouldn't have come to the outside world without a good reason, she turned her attention to her. Once Alice saw she was no longer intruding, she approached the two and asked a question that caused Sephira's heart to sink again.

"Have you seen Elica? She's been missing for days."
