Description
This is the tender of my "Yavapai" 4-6-0 project. It's getting quite an extensive face lift and I've only just started! The first thing I did was cut off the original tender flare which seemed a little "modern" to me. I'll be adding an older style flare where it leans out a little bit to the sides. A new fuel load of real coal will then be added as well as a pair of Archbar Trucks, rather than the heavy duty Fox style trucks it currently has. There is ample room in the boiler shell and tender for a DCC decoder and speaker, so at some point I'll convert it over to DCC. The engine still runs a little rough so it will need some fine tuning. The tender will also receive some semi-proto48 couplers. This is so it can couple up to other engines without having a the magnetic trip pin foul on locomotive pilots and make double heading easier.
