Description
Rodan is a great decendant of the flying reptiles that dominated the skies millions of years ago. The creature was benevolent to the human race but it's life in the modern age was met with an untimely end at the hands of Mechagodzilla.

Height: 40 meters

Wingspan: 120 meters

Weight: 300 tons

Origin: Giant species of pteranadon

Date of death: 8/8/11

First sighted: Glacier Island, Alaska

Last Seen: Los Angeles, California

Cause of death: Massive exposure to solar radiation and intense heat

Powers and abilities:

- Flight clocked at atleast supersonic speeds.

- Spear-like beak that can spear through several feet of solid granite.

- Razor sharp talons

History:

First sighted near Glacier Island in Alaska, Rodan was at first thought to have been the cause for the disapperance of ships near the islands of Alaska and Japan. However this was not the case, when a second Godzilla appeared off the shores of a tiny island that had been relativly untouched. This island was also where Rodan had made his hunting grounds, feeding off of wolves and bears. Godzilla and Rodan immediatly engaged in combat, where Rodan failed to keep up with Godzilla in terms of raw physical power, he compensated with blinding speed and agility.

Ultimately speed and agility alone would not grant Rodan victory, for he was beaten by Godzilla shortly after and was forced to retreat. Some time later, Rodan began heading towards the west coast of the United States, towards the Los Angeles area. Once again, Rodan's presence was misenterpreted as hostile, and the US military opened fire on the benevolent pteranadon. But that all changed when Mechagodzilla and Garuda arrived after escaping from Mariposa and Area 51 respectively.

Rodan heroically engaged the two machines, unknowing that this would be the last night he would ever live. Despite Rodan's best efforts, he was quickly beaten down and sent crashing into the top of a skyscraper, horrifically wounded. Sometime after Godzilla arrived, Rodan regained consiousness and saw Godzilla losing the upper hand. badly. Despite Godzilla having attacked him weeks earlier, Rodan flew to the saurian's aid only to be backhanded back into the building which he just came from by the newly formed Super-Mechagodzilla.

However Mechagodzilla was going to make sure he finished off this pest once and for all. With a blast of his HELIOS eye lasers, Mechagodzilla destroyed the entire skyscraper and Rodan with it in a colossal explosion. After Super Mechagodzilla's defeat, Rodan was finally recognized as a creature of heroic nature. His remains where burned after those who mistook him as an enemy gave a moment to think that without the vital time Rodan bought Godzilla, Mechagodzilla would have destroyed them all. Rodan was one of the first monsters considered by mankind to be a defender of this planet.
