Why, thank you very much! Yeah, Virgil's one cool cat and I think of him as the glue in the group. XD

More like the understanding one with a positive outlook. Unlike the other two boys who come from broken homes.

That's sweet. I think every group needs a positive person to help the group up when it's beaten down.

This is so awesome! I love the camaraderie between them and how Ed has Virgil's hat! Though a little criticism: I think Virgil's waist is a little small. Β

Aww, thanks! I'm so happy the playful friendship shows through. And would you believe, I stared at Virgil's lines forever but I just didn't know if I should widen his midsection. Still not the best judge of my own stuff when it comes to anatomy, so thank you! Maybe I'll pull it back into Photoshop and fix it again.

Thank you! Oh man, I'm always glad you're there to help. The funny part is, you seem to notice everything I second-guess myself on. I wish you could be here watching over my shoulder as I work, so when I start flip-flopping you can point me in the right direction, beforehand. It's as if we're on the same thought wave-length, but I lack the confidence to make a decision. I appreciate your advice, you have no idea!
Well, I admit I struggle with lighting (and color-matching to scene ambiance, if that's a thing ). People always say to draw a little sun wherever the light source is as a reminder, but I go one step further and take a low-opacity airbrush and do directional light (white or light yellow) and cross-directional shadow (black). It helps me to imagine when I color, especially doing faces. Overall coloring and shading, I'm falling back to my strong suit in cels. What I do to try and make them look less flat is to build a sense of structure and shape with contrast. I often add a way-dark second shadow layer (sometimes bumped up still by low-opacity black washed over it) and a second light highlight. Β When you're coloring 2D animation style, the extra colors enunciate areas and make the character "pop" a little more realistically.

Thank you very much! I try to tell myself that someday I won't be second-guessing, and in fact be drawing everything instead like second nature. It's just gonna take awhile, I think. I appreciate all your advice and how you always have my back!
You're welcome, as well. Yeah, digital drawing isn't quite like traditional means. It can be better, but it's intimidating at the same time because there's so much more you can do with it; thankfully, it means there's also a lot more ways you can cheat perfection. With finding the right light sources, too, I usually try to envision a scenario, even if I've no plans on adding in a background (like here). It makes it easier to see shadows and highlights if you think like, "Oh, they're in a room with a closed window on the right" or "There's a tree off-camera". XD
Yeah, I think colors pop so much better if you have one extremely dark shadow color, and one extremely bright highlight color, on top the blends. It gives dimension and contrast, and really builds up the shapes. I've noticed that by doing the painterly style of digital on clothing (like Tye's jeans in my latest art).

OMG! you are really good at this! I love the way you draw them you can actually see the friendship between them!
And I must say I loved it since the meme

That's it exactly! I don't understand why pencils and greyscale are so much more forgiving, but it seems to be the case. I also think I'm a bit afraid of color...

Really incredible drawing. The coloring is perfect and the characters real gestures is fantastic.

Thank you, Cass! That's exactly what I wanted to portray, with a little bit of the silliness that teenage boys are prone to. XD
