So. Dr. John Mereii. Funny how a person can look utterly normal on the outside, but on the inside... ohhhh dear me.Mereii's not the stablest of bunnies. His soul, his aura, whatever it is that Star can see...looks in need of a bit of a cleanout, doesn't it?
...Anyhow, er...I started out by drawing a jellybean, I swear. It just, um, got a bit...involved.
Looks a bit Foo-Swee-Chin-like as opposed to my normal stuff. I think I maybe overdid it a bit what with the pestilence and the goo. But I s'pose goo is good. Oh, and that thing there is a traintrack. *coughs* I did a lot of this at work straight on with pen, so it looks like it's made of rubber. Aargh.
Ink and pencil, a smattering of shading. John is ours, muhahahaaaaah. Um.

I remember looking at this picture a long time ago,before I was a deviantart member,and just really liking the atmosphere.It's got this great way of representing the inner mind... and stuff.

WOW. You really put a lot of detail and effort into this ... I'm especially fond of the way the heads of the screws are close to the syringes, so they almost blend into each other. I know I say that your style reminds me of Vasquez a lot, but it's really, really evident here - while at the same time, you keep your own little je ne sais quoi thing going.
Also, may I ask ... HOW the frelling HECK do you get your ink lines to scan so sharp and clean like that? *envy* Mine always end up fuzzy.

Wellp, I use Photoshop, and I usually scan at 200 in greyscale so I can shrink it down to 50% or so, that usually helps with the clarity. Then I play around with the Level settings until the blacks are really black.

Hmmmm.... interesting. But are his eyes peeking from behind his glasses, or are those some kinda eyebrows? 'Cause when I first saw this, I thought the glasses were his eyes. But then I saw those things. So.... his eyes are where, exactly?
Oh, and thanks for being an unlikely source of inspiration! You have inspired me to write a comic called Livland Wonders. How? Well... erm..... I'm not really sure. I saw this picture and something clicked in my head. Funny thing is, it has nothing to do with anything like this. Except maybe for things not always being what they seem.

Crikeys, I don't think I have the patience for something like that! I'd have gone mad after a while. Looking at all those pills in the top of the picture, I think I can see how this has ended up a very fancy doodle of a jelly bean X3 But seriously, that's just incredible. I love those pointy needles (the way they're drawn, of course. I have a phobia of needles and pointy things

Whoa, this is some scary stuff, man, with the worms, and the killer pills, and the hypos jabbing out half-filled with air. The train tracks don't look rubbery, they look warped- just like dear dear John. *stares for a while* I'm still trying to figure out what that thing is above the toxic signs... Hey, where's the jellybean this nightmarish masterpiece spawned from, huh? I don't see anything even remotely close to a jellybean, and all the color and cheerfulness inherent within a jellybean.

i think you mean the corrosive sign? it's a hand with a chunk eroded out of it.
the jellybean, unfortunately, got hijacked and turned into one of the worms/pills. poor thing.

Oh my gosh, this looks WICKED. The amount of detail is really overwhelming and creepy and GOD, those hypos look scary. The way Meraii is just standing there, looking so normal and professional in the midst of all that chaos and filth, is really creepy and very nice... no WONDER Star's scared of this guy. Actually, it also makes me wonder what he saw in Escher to make him fear her.. but never mind that. This is just very cool, and very nicely done.
