Another night againAnother journey without friends
Another fight to wish away the loneliness I live
this came from a sketch is did yesterday at about three in the morning, just of the face and shoulders. i hated it. then today i changed some of it and started to like it. problem was it was only about two inches square. so i cut it out of the book with a stanley knife and stuck it in the middle of some a4 bristol. then i spent the rest of the day finishing it. i'm glad i did finish it because mwerrrr whoop ding the eyes
ahem.
for some reason i really like the way the tall buildings look, all blank like that. i was going to put texture on them, but in the end i left them white. i think it makes it feel...lonlier. more isolated. or something.
that roof is gaudilike because i like gaudi. i have no idea if any new york buildings look anything like that. i want to own a gaudi house. with a moat.
actually, scratch that. i'd rather own the tentacle-boy.

The eyes, YES. He looks so hollow and haunted- it's neat. Actually he makes me think of a gargoyle, kind of, except I'm not sure whether he'd be chasing evil away or bringing evil upon the building. Or just passing through. Hehe. I love the clawarmthings, and you are making me want to see the movie just for this guy. +fav!

Ok. Before I have a fanart panic attack, let me give you a developed comment.
First of all, and what I think really gets me to love this picture.. style. The style of this picture is so unlike any other fanart, especially Octavious fanart - I've NEVER seen it before.
The way it's drawn makes the lines seem so thick, in the most perfect possible way. This REALLY draws your attention to Otto, and enhances the godly shading..
His expression is perfect. Love the ripped clothes, the bags under his eyes. This, combined with the pose and posture, add palpable amounts of character to your drawing.
How you've positioned the mechanical arms adds depth, as does the angle of the buildings.. I agree with that comment about the blankness of them, it does give him a certain feeling of isolation or forlorning.
I could just MELT in the expression he's giving.. kind of like "what do you want" "leave me alone" or "you've got to be kidding.." the latter of which prolly occured after one of my various obscene suggestions.
I'm enjoying how you leave a thin white line around that one tentacle; however, it seems just a bit awkward that you'd leave a faded line that instantly disolves when it hits the building.. it doesn't look as right as it could.
Even the background is wondrous.. nice spot for the moon, I like how it's not pitted - an overly developed moon would draw your attention away from Doc Ock. Fantastic stars.
I couldn't say enough about this.. if I was going to a deserted island, this would be the one picture I'd grab first!

As for the image itself, I love it. (Yay for the Gaudi roof!) The emotion you have in the frame is brilliant. Especially that tired 'what are you looking at?' look on his face.
