A self-portrait shot in February last year.Again, so sorry I have nothing new for you. I'm just completely absorbed in my new play, Awake. It is taking a lot of love and energy to write. My novel is also still progressing. Slowly. I am in rehearsal for a new show and looking at building a venue in Adelaide for the Fringe early next year. I promise I am very busy.
But at least you've never seen this shot or anything from this series. I really enjoy this one.

What is your new play about?
I think I may be rather behind on your novel, as I haven't gotten an email from you since March. It's ok if it's too much of a bother to send me what I've missed, I understand you're busy.

I've written more since then but it is all strange and out of order so I've stopped sending it out for the moment. Also I hand write it so I need to go through and type out all the new bits. But I'll send you stuff when I get a bit more time to work on it! Sorry!
'Awake' is about two different rare neurological conditions. The first half is about Clive Wearing who has the most extreme case of amnesia ever recorded. (look him up! It is just amazing and heartbreaking.) The other half is about a condition called Familial Fatal Insomnia (FFI) which is found in 40-200 families world wide. An inherited condition where, upon onset, the victim loses the ability to fall into deep sleep and dies in 6-10 months. It is absolutely horrific.
All in all, they are difficult things to write. The amnesia half actually came out beautifully and easily in one 12 hour sitting but the FFI half is taking me months.

Oh that's alright, no rush on the novel! I know it's a work in progress! I was just wondering about it, that's all.
Wow, those are very strong subjects! I'll look those up when I get a chance, they seem like really interesting topics. Suffering from insomnia from time to time, FFI seems like a really hard subject to write about, no wonder it's taking you a while! Good luck with 'Awake'!
