Description A shot from last winter. I thought I had already posted this but realized that I hadn't.

It's not often we get a colourful sunset in the dead of winter here, so I was happy to be out on this day!

This is making me very sentimental - second photo I have looked at today that totally reminds me of my grandparents farm (which is pretty close to you, actually!) I love the coolness and the warmth I feel in this one - beautiful <3

I am wishing it was time to visit! I miss my home state. They have both passed and their farmhouse is now being rented out, but right up in the northeast corner of Montana (Westby) right on the border of Canada and North Dakota. I think it's around 5 or 6 hours from where you are. I still have relatives around there, so if I ever get back that way again - we could figure out a way to meet halfway or something! Find some trouble to get into...

ooo - that would be SO awesome! Montana... I bet there are tons of shooting opportunities there!!!

Ah - but if we got into trouble one of us won't get back over the border again!

I was thinking the same thing - detained at the border
Do you need a passport to go across now? Maybe a birth certificate and ID? We used to drive to Weyburn all the time for my grandma's acupuncture treatments when I was little and we didn't need them then, but that was back in the old days.
Scenery is not much different in that part of MT from where you are. Mostly farmland as far as the eye can see.

I thought that Montana had big ranches and mountains!! (and Indiana Jones )

Yeah - passport for sure now - they changed it about a year or two ago! I hear some crazy border stories - we live 2 hours away so people are coming and going all the time. Sometimes they'll literally just rip your car apart, if they think you look suspicious. They'd probably just look at us and say "trouble - move along quickly!" LOL!

That's more towards the western part of the state in the Rockies. My favorite part but the farmlands are special to me too.
Indiana Jones has a place down in the southwest corner - "neighbor" to a high school friend!!

yup - if they know what's good for them, they'll just let us keep on going

LOL! it was a actually a warm day... well, as warm as you can get in the dead of winter! Warm enough that I wasn't worried about my camera freezing to death at least! LOL!

Thanks for the extra sunshine!

oh - it's SO hot here! temp of +49 C with the humidity today. Not very many people out on the streets - it's too hot. Do you get high humidity there?

NunoCanha In reply to Handie [2011-07-19 15:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Very high humidity.
In form of drops.

I would take the humidity in the form of drops right now!! the air is so heavy with moisture that it's hard to breathe when you go outside, and you instantly feel damp when you walk out the door! yuck!!

We're not used to this heat! LOL!

Thanks Jon

I was never very sure about this one - must be why I never posted it before - but you know, there have been a few times that I've posted something that I wasn't crazy about and they end up being the ones that everyone else likes! I guess we'll see about it.....

My favourite part is that you can see the sparkles in the snow right along the fore front. That's my favourite part about snow - when it sparkles - either in the bright sun light, or from the street lamps at night!

That`s right you can, didn`t pick those up first time though and too true, that`s happened many times to me here on DA too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Handie In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2011-07-13 16:58:44 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to capture the sparkles in a photo - I guess because the snow is white and the white of the sparkle disappears I'm sure you've seen the sparkle with your own eyes though - seeing as you also get a fair amount of snow there.
