Kayla was beyond nervous.

Usually, she was riding a horse she was used to and that she had under control. However, this stallion was like riding on a runaway Freight Train, and she wasn't necessarily comfortable with riding him. But when she heard her mom would be taking Slinger into the same class, she couldn't let her mom down by declining her plead to handle the big black and white stallion.

Player had shown in Reining before, on a few occasions, and got the patterns down, but this did not ease the gnawing empty feeling inside Kayla as she sat nervously on the shifting boy. She was sure what got to her most was the fact that she HAD to worry about what they placed. Her horses that she had shown like WBS Ugly Betty Babe and LH Calico Skippa Sissy were her horses and to her it didn't matter what they placed or how they ran, as long as they where having fun. But this was different. Kayla was expected by her mother to do a great job, and to try and do even better than Slinger and her mom herself, and Jen was shooting for Player to get a Title at the show.

All of the stress of Players career at that moment were resting on her shoulders, and she could feel the pain from it in her stomach and back.

She had done a smidge of training on the boy, and never really warmed up to him. She didn't know why... maybe it was his size... he did intimidate her. He shouldn't, but he did. He was a heavy, powerful set horse and he had no regard for his rider, and she knew this. He hadn't thrown her or tried to yet, but she could tell that he didn't care if anyone was on his back or not, he was going to do what he wanted to do and no one could stop him.

She pushed the brim of her hat down and listened to the rain outside of the warm arena. Player was surprisingly calm beneath her, and his movement was limited to a thurough shaking of his mane wich quickly esceladed into a full-blown body-shake. He then streightened up and didnt move from there on, his musclular neck relaxed, his tail not bothering to touch the flies as there didnt seem to be many about his ankles or rump. He rolled his tounge under the bit once and lifted his head, ears alert, to look in the direction of a whinnying horse. He sucked in sharply and let out a loud whinny that was broken but thunderous, his sides heaving with each break of the note. He then shook out his mane once more, moving his head with it, then relaxed until it was their turn to go.

Kayla simply scratched his withers and tried to not image herself eating the dirt. She swallowed dryly and took a deep breath.

It was almost their turn.
