Description Donated contest prize for in =boribaby 's Elements Contest.

This is stupidly overdue. *cerona should have had this months ago, but my life has just been jam-packed since February and I have had to cram this in the teeny tiny wedges of spare time that I've had.

It features her incredibly handsome character Sierra galloping along the edge of a lake at sunset. I wanted to try something a bit different in order to spice this up a bit, so tried the sunset palette. I had great fun with the water, as per usual, although it took about three times the amount of time that it usually does. The spray under Sierra's hooves also took ages, and I'm not completely happy with it, but I've had enough of fiddling with it.

Anyway, I really hope that you like it *cerona , and I have to apologise yet again for how very, very delayed this prize had been.

I love this! The horse is beautiful, and seems to have a style to it that I really enjoy looking at. And I can't even begin to imagine how you made the water look so real. Cheers!

Thank you so much for the lovely comment . A water tutorial is on my lengthy to-do list, but it may not crop up until way into the New Year sadly.

The background is amazing, particularly the water! I like how you did the sprays and the horse's pose is great too.

Thank you! I probably use water too much in my backgrounds, it's a bit of a failsafe for me , but I really enjoy doing it and it tends to look quite good too!

Oh wow, this is so truly beautiful I don't have words for it Sierra looks amazing in your style - and you managed the dapples extremely well too! I love the colours of the sunset and how they sort of reflect in his coat, and the sence of freedom and power in the whole picture is just overwhelming Plus, you absolutely rocked those splashes! Thank you so much again hun for taking the time to make such a lovely picture

I'm so glad you like it !! I put a huge amount of effort into it, so I'm happy thats paid off.
I really played around with the fact that his grey coat would probably reflect the pink from the sky. The dapples are a also brilliant feature in him that really make the design, I'm a real sucker for dappled horses (which is one of the reason I chose to draw Sierra ).

Beautiful sense of light here! I really like the rosy glints on Sierra's body. I also like how smooth and clean the lineart is, and Sierra's strong head. I'm a sucker for horses that have a teeny bit of a roman nose... or a very pronounced one! Also, oddly, I like that I can tell he's a stallion without necessarily having to read the author's notes. This is because so often I just... yanno... forget to include that bit while I'm painting. My stallions are all gender-neutral? Or I just generally fail?

Gorgeous work, Harlequin!

. . . *is speechless*

Wow. Seriously, I am speechless this is just....there are no words!!

Sierra just looks wonderful, there's so much movement in his pose and those eyes! The colour of the sky really goes well with his dapply grey-ness. And seriously that water!! HOW?!?

All in all, serious levels of awesomeness.

This is a really lovely comment to recieve, especially after my leave of absence . It really means a lot!
I have to admit to being really pleased with how this picture turned out. The colour scheme was great fun, although I have to admit to it being a spur of the moment decision half way through the completion of the background, which meant lots of PS jiggery-pokery !
