Description It's been a little while since I've done a stamp of encouragement. This is a quote - I don't know if someone else said it originally, but for now I will attribute it to my dear friend ~naitecoffee , the founder of the wonderful group, #QS-POSITIVE . It is her personal quote. I think it is a very good one. We often hear "don't give up", but there's more to it than that. We do tend to think of failure as an end - our endeavors end in success or failure. But failure isn't always an end. Sometimes, it is merely a transition. It can even be a beginning.

A great inventor named Thomas Edison, when asked about his numerous failures, is credited with saying, "I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work. If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward." Failure isn't always a bad thing. We can learn from failure, whether artistic, scientific, or otherwise, to strengthen our knowledge and our life experience.

If you are continually experiencing failure and feeling frustrated, this stamp is for you. Remember that failure isn't the end of the world.

I won't ever give up.

I just don't really like Failure, pushing me harder to get things right.

"Failure isn't the end of the world."

Apparently Harold Camping saw your stamp. The end of the world has been officially postponed until October 21.

Great stuff there. I admit I didn't watch all of it (a bit long), but that whole "resource vs. resourcefulness" idea is a particularly intriguing point. Thanks for sharing that.

(And thanks for the watch, too )

I was thinking of this today. So many people are afraid of failure that they don't even try. My friend was saying she wanted to try out for volleyball, but she didn't because she was afraid. I tried out for 3 sports teams in my school and only made 1, but now I'm good friends with the people from the other teams and have a better chance of making it next year because they know my face and I know what they expect from me. My Health teacher had us read a very enlightening book this year called Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson MD. One of the quotes are "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" It's really sad to see people give up on opportunities because they are afraid to fail.

HarmonicSonic In reply to someartsyname [2011-05-14 23:55:20 +0000 UTC]

It's very true. I think everyone is guilty of it at least some of the time.

And I've heard of that book. My dad is a pastor, and I think he's got it on tape. It's a good quote.

Maniacalpomegranates [2011-05-14 23:22:11 +0000 UTC]

Except for people with kakorrhaphiophobia.
Though I guess they'd probably work 10 times as hard to make sure they don't fail.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HarmonicSonic In reply to Maniacalpomegranates [2011-05-14 23:41:53 +0000 UTC]

Also known as atychiphobia. Yes, I suppose they would. But it's still not the end of the world even for people like that. It may seem like it to them at the time, but even then, the world goes on. I have keraunophobia, but the world doesn't end every time a thunderstorm hits where I live.

Maniacalpomegranates In reply to HarmonicSonic [2011-05-15 00:11:24 +0000 UTC]

Just looked it up in a list of phobias
Yeah, not the end of the world, but it would be super discouraging, right? 'cause you can never avoid failure. It happens everyday :/ Damn, that must be depressing then...
xD Heh, there's a thunderstorm here right now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HarmonicSonic In reply to Maniacalpomegranates [2011-05-15 00:12:46 +0000 UTC]

It would be. That's why I try to encourage people, even when they fail.

And yeah, there's getting ready to be a storm here, too.

cresun In reply to Devilinchan94 [2011-05-15 00:56:18 +0000 UTC]

depending on the situation, fear of failure is not necessarily the true barrier

for the souls who bear the burden of self-hatred, the fear of failure may actually be a fear of the inevitable damage that comes with it...

it hurts when people don't understand, and consequently try to pep you into doing something you know has a risk of leaving you devastated

your awareness of the situation is thus essential

only with the power of knowledge will you be able to protect your heart from falling into the minefield...

by ignoring those who defy the needs of your vulnerable heart, you allow yourself to protect what matters

the journey will then orient towards the quest of finding our remedy; to be able to clear the hazard once and for all, to find the desired land of liberty – where the heart belongs...
