around 3h self portrait. Used colors and brushes which I hate to use, and colored with the 'color range' tool just to get different results. That was actually fun to draw *-* Makes me happy that I can still do other stuff beside manga.Related content

Really amazing work. The grittiness is awesome. I love the colours, especially in the skin tone. The sharp lines but washed-out edges are a neat effect. Bravo on this!!

This is really awesome - love the mask! I like you idea of pushing yourself out of the comfort zone by deliberately using colours & tools you don't normally like - it puts me a little in mind of something Tom Waits once said, explaining why he likes experimenting with weird old instruments, "Your hands are like dogs, going to the same places they've been. You have to be careful when playing is no longer in the mind but in the fingers, going to happy places. You have to break them of their habits or you don't explore, you only play what is confident and pleasing. I'm learning to break those habits by playing instruments I know absolutely nothing about, like a bassoon or a waterphone."

Thanks! I think you're right to revel in your versatility, rather than settling on a style. Better to mix and match from a broad repertoire of visual languages, and tailor a new style for each project.
