Description:
Skathe is a creature of legend, a beast of old straight from a storybook that once laid waste to villages and devoured virgin maidens. Like Ketos, who once thought himself alone on this world, she is also a true dragon. She is much different than the Demon of the Deep though. While both are very vain and prideful, their wrath equally easy to invoke, Skathe is the slier of the two by far. She prefers plotting to plundering, much more subtle than the brash and hotheaded Ketos. She's also extremely possessive. Any object that receives her attention can became a priceless treasure she would fight tooth-and-nail for. This uncontrollable urge to keep things in her grasps can endanger her greatly, although little can stand up to her when she is angry. Another trait that separates her from Ketos, Skathe is quick-witted and good with words. Not that Ketos is stupid, but Skathe could easily make him seem so with her silver tongue and sharp mind. Any situation she could force her way out of with flame and talon, she could also talk her way freedom. To add to her barbed tongue, she has a flare for dramatics as well. It is another passion of the Smoke Maiden to maintain her ladyship'- she is obsessed with femininity, or at least the draconian version of it. Her voice is small and dainty at all time, defying her vast size, and she actually grinds a special stone mixture to apply to her face very much like makeup. Blue to highlight her glowing teal eyes, and that same striking sea-green as her slitted orbs for her fire-hardened gums. This way, her sneer is as piercing as her stare. Skathe and Ketos could be considered two halves of a greater whole. They are sky and sea, wit and power, king and queen. They could be a formidable force if joined together, resurrecting the dragon race into the world. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, they can't stand each other. Although they are happy not to be alone in the world and would gladly defend each other, they simply can't be together without squabbling or fighting fiercely. The very thing that make them alike also make them unbearable to one another, the cruel joke of the dragon race.

Powers:
-Obsidian Teeth: some of Skathe's most obvious weapons are her jet black teeth; by the magical properties of dragonfire, her teeth were long ago morphed in a dense, jagged substance almost identical to obsidian; they can cut, puncture, and shred just about anything, like black diamonds embedded in her jaws
-Talons: although Skathe only has a single pair of arms, each is tipped with a set of five long, blade-like claws; this purple sabers are both dexterous and deadly, capable of delicately holding a fragile object or laying a foe open throat to groin; Skathe won't hesitate to use them as weapons, her main form of offense in battle
-Wing Spikes: the digits of Skathe's broad wings are flexible, thick, and sharp, able to be twisted around and used as wicked spearpoints; a lesser used form of physical attack, but every bit as deadly as her fileting talons
-Smoke: although Skathe possesses potent dragonfire, she rarely uses it; unlike popularly depicted, dragonfire is very revered, almost sacred really; to use it for any common battle would be blasphemy, a mortal sin; so instead of her fire, Skathe uses smoke to fight her battles; the dragoness breaths an enormous amount of smoke, dark smog constantly spewing from her jaws and nostrils; she can control smoke, easily manipulating entire clouds of it with her will alone; its obvious uses are to blind and choke foes, but it has a far more deadly ability; by the special properties of dragonfire, the smoke Skathe breaths is composed of billions of tiny blades and spikes on a molecular level; when hurled with enough force, clouds of the dragon's smoke can shred and lacerate, practically skinning foes; especially dangerous when inhaled, as Skathe is merciless enough to reduce innards to a bloody pulp
-Dragonfire: the azure flames that all true dragons possess are the core of the great reptile's culture, the very thing that defines a dragon; because of its significance, it is considered insulting to use it without reserve; Skathe- now proud to be the last being that possesses dragonfire- rarely uses her flames at all; she saves it for special occasions, like cooking especially prized kills or burning the corpses of worthy foes; the only circumstances in which she would use it in battle would be if her life was in severe danger, the most dire of situations; when unleashed, dragonfire is incredible; it burns hotter than any flame of Earth, rivaled only by Quetzar's golden fire; it seems to have a life of its own, chasing after foes in beautiful spirals and vortexes; when something is set aflame by dragonfire, it will only burn out when there is nothing left to burn, when its wielder wills it, or if the wielder is render unconscious or killed
-Cunning: Skathe is an extremely tricky beast; her mind is sharp and her words can be either soothing or cutting, manipulating foes into doing what she wants; she is also quite good at taking advantages of the environment or any weaknesses she may find or inflict of foes; she will often target the same wound over and over, worsening it each go
-Tough Hide: Skathe's leathery hide is thick and flexible, a challenge to penetrate for any bloodthirsty foe; heated attack especially are useless, her dragonfire warming her interior so that she hardly feel flames and sunbeams anymore
-Flight: like Ketos is a master of the seas, Skathe is a master of the skies; her great wings propel her, her long tail closes the bubble of air she displaces, making her as aerodynamic as possible, and the rudder-like fins she's developed in pace of hind legs navigate her; in the air, she's fast, agile, and an absolute monarch; very little can challenge her in flight, even top aerial predators like Opter and Sotz

Weakness:
-Like Ketos, Skathe has the classical flaws of most dragons; this includes overwhelming greed and inability to resist riddles and word games; unlike Ketos, however, she is almost certainly to trump in the duel of wit, as she knows almost every riddle and joke in existence
-Skathe suffers extreme possessiveness, fighting for and defending next to worthless things she happens to have taken a liking to
-Not very agile on ground due to her serpentine hindquarters

Bio:
Skathe was once a terror, raiding the English countryside like a specter of death and destruction. Unusually large even by dragon standards, she ruled, doing whatever she wished. She would swoop down upon villages and castes, toppling with slashing claws and polluting the air with her smoke. Many tried to slay her, but all failed. In return for ceasing her attacks, she demanded offerings of livestock and maidens, served to her chained on clifftops. She thoughts that would be the most intimidating way to receive her meals, playing along with the storybook tales of dragons. She even tolerated the hopeful knights that constantly showed up to rescue princesses given to her. On her better days, she let a few live, allowing them to flee with their future bride. It was always helpful to leave the subjects of her terror with just a bit of hope. But, just like with Ketos, she found that her kin were dying around her, humans growing more clever and their weapons more advanced. With knights successfully slaying dragons left and right, the great beast felt compelled to go dormant, sleeping off the annoying human race. They could possible harm a queen like her, but their growing confidence was quite irritating. Besides, it was about time for the power nap she took every few thousand years or so. So, assuming she would easily outlast Man's reign over the planet, the dragoness retreated to the mountains to slumber for a few centuries.

The changes that occurred while she slept were more drastic that she could have ever dreamed.

With kaiju sprouting up at every corner of the globe, Skathe began to awaken, her sleep growing lighter and lighter. As she slowly roused, smoke began to puff from her nostrils, steadily filling the sky around her mountainous hideaway. This smoke caught the attention of Alex Shepheard, who managed to talk Teach into allowing him to investigate. Having traversed the very same mountain range while searching for the Sub-Titan, the kaijuologist knew the rough terrain well and needed no guide of assistance. Alone and confident, he began his long trek, heading towards what seemed to be the source of the smoke. Eventually, he discovered a vast cave mouth, the smoke seeping out from its black depths. Curiosity overcoming caution, Alex attempted to slowly descend the cave's steep entrance.

And immediately fell in.

Tumbling down the rocky ledge, Alex plunged into the cave, certain he would be dashed across some jagged rocks or paralyzed and devoured by subterranean insects. Instead, he landed right on Skathe's muzzle. Startled awake by a human flopping onto her snout, the dragon snapped fully awake. Stiff and sore, the she-beast stretched herself out, unaware of the human slipping from her nose and hiding behind some of the treasure she had horded in the cave. Unfortunately for Alex, she soon caught a whiff of him. Flaring nostrils leading her right to the frightened kaijuologist, the wicked giant scooped him up, preparing to toss him into her jaws as a light snack. Having already been seized by a dragon once in his life, the young adventurer knew he had only a select few hopes left. So he did the one thing he could at the moment.

Stall.

Begging the dragon to stop and listen, Alex quickly devised a lie, claiming he was there to welcome her back with a great offering. Skathe, while vain, wasn't as blindly arrogant as Ketos and was suspicious. She demanded to know where the 'offering' was. Outside, at the base of the mountain, to heavy for a single man to carry Alex lied again. Still not convinced, Skathe asked what the 'offering' was. Realizing the dragoness wasn't buying it, Alex casually strolled towards a heap of jewels, pretending to pick out the kind of precious gems he had gathered for the winged giant.

Then he hurled the gems straight into one of her massive teal eyes as she stared him down.

Howling in agony, Skathe thrashed, her shaking almost bringing the cave down. Scrambling back out of the cave, Alex dashed away as fast as he possibly could. It wasn't quite fast enough, because Skathe literally explode from the mountainside only moments later with a squinting eye and a carving for revenge. Eagle eyes spotting the fleeing human right away, Skathe lunged down to snatch him up.

Sotz slammed into her before she could reach him.

Battling in midair, the bat and the dragon tore into each other with their claws and fangs, showering the mountain below with their blood. Skathe, still weary from her great slumber and out of practice, soon found herself defending more than attacking, Sotz slowly gaining the upper hand. With no patience for a battle just yet and knowing her human was escaping, the dragoness loosed a great cloud of smoke. The dark smog engulfed the demonic bat, blocking his echolocation and spearing his flesh like a tempest of razors. While the bat staggered in midair, pelt bloody and shredded, Skathe abandoned the fight and chased after Alex, following his scent.

The olfactory trail lead her straight to the G.A.K.F. base.

Thinking he had escaped Skathe, Alex was stunned to have the dragon rip the roof right off of Teach's office as he explained what had happen to the G.A.K.F. head. Luckily for the kaijuologist and the military leader, Jake opened fire on the she-beast. Leaving Alex to face the cyborg, Skathe was confronted by Plume, Reaper, Zelus, and Sid as well, not to mention all the conventional weaponry trained don her. She was in way over her head and knew it.

The sea itself came to her aid.

Roaring up across the great base's surface, a rolling wave swept all the G.A.K.F. monsters off their feet, whisking Skathe off the platform and into the air as well. Rising for the ocean with a roar, Ketos revealed himself to be the dragoness's rescuer! The Demon of the Deep may be a black-hearted beast, but not even he could sit back a watch another dragon be slaughtered, especially when he had thought himself the last one. Commanded the ocean to fend off the defenders while they fled, the two dragons retreated back to solid ground. Very smug over his victory, Ketos waited to be rewarded for his noble deed.

Skathe swatted him across the face wither her talons.

Shocked, the Tyrant of the Seas demanded to know why he had been struck. Sneering, Skathe told him she could have handled it herself before taking wing and soaring back to her lair. Hissing a curse after the female, Ketos returned to the sea.

Taking a huge risk and directly disobeying Teach, Alex visited Skathe's lair again, this time with an actual gift- a mirror for the Smoke Maiden to admire herself in. Pleased with the offering and perceiving it as a sign that the kaijuologist submitted himself as hers, Skathe allowed Alex to become a messenger between her and Ketos. Alex seems interested in getting the two together to bring back dragons from the brink of extinction. Teach has threatened to shoot him for the idea on multiple occasions. But to the G.A.K.F. head's relief, the dragon themselves are dead against any such notion as well.

Background Information: Skathe here is a tribute to 's Hera and Thanatos. I just love how they sorta of fit together to complete the classic image of a dragon. I wanted to do something similar with Ketos, giving him a counterpart that both matches and opposes him.
