so. this is one of my entries for nillia's "Character Is...." thing. (i'm doing one for Yusuke too)KUWABARA EVERYONE!!!!!!!
it's crappy and rushed, but i REALLY wanted to do one for Kuwa, because i LAFF him!
I'M SO SORRY FOR MY...NOT...GOOD....KUWA....DRAWING....NESS....yeah...

btw, Kurama's hair is red, not black. it just looks like that because the manga is black and white

Actually, it's consistently black on colored front and back covers of the manga. Even when tone is introduced into the color illustrations (like if it's painted with watercolor) it's still consistently treated the same as Yusuke's or Hiei's hair (meaning the highlights and value are identical.) Basically: there's no actual visual evidence that there's a difference in the value of Yusuke's, Hiei's or Kurama's hair. (Or Kuwabara's for that matter.) I pretty much have the theory that they colorized Kurama and Kuwabara because four leads with black hair in a cartoon is a little boring, visually, and YYH is otherwise a really colorful universe.
BUT, more importantly: He's a freaking cartoon character. It really doesn't matter. I can make his freaking hair purple if I really want to.

I was with you up until you said "not a homophobe..." Certainly not homophobic! But in a page about Kuwabara, it confuses me a touch to see Yuusuke/Kurama involved.
That said, this is amusing! And I agree with most everything you said, I just happen to ship Kuwabara/Yuusuke and even if you don't ship it, there's at least platonic love!

Oh, YusukexKurama was my pet pairing back when I was in like...middle school, or whenever I made this! I still LOVE their (canon) bromance, but I've definitely calmed down a lot.
Oh, and I DEFINITELY also ship the platonic Kuwabara/Yusuke bromance. It's just as canon as the Yusuke/Kurama bromance and even MORE epic!

Anyway, yeah, I ship Yusuke/Kurama and Kuwabara/Yusuke (along with various other pairings.) the picture was lovely, though! And I can totally agree with most of them.

Ironically enough, I see Yusuke as he most underrated character.XD
I mean, just think of it: For a main character he sure doesn't get as much attention as Kurama and Hiei, who are, IMHO, the blandest main characters, and Kuwabara is pretty much in second place.

Actually, weird though it is, he kind of is homophobic (in the NA dub, at least.) He totally freaks out at numerous mentions of it. Maybe he can't reconcile that concept with his tough-guy viewpoint...

Well, my point is he's a seriously good guy. Like, if he DID find out a friend was gay, he wouldn't disassociate himself from them or anything. And I think you might be confusing discomfort with the thought of homosexuality for actual homophobia ^^() (But ALSO I haven't actually watched Hakusho in a LOOOONG time, so I'm not altogether sure of what I'm talking about anymore...this is depressing! I used to love it so much!)

I haven't watched it in too long, too. TT_TT I do remember, though that I was shocked by some of his lines in the NA dub. When it becomes apparent that Itsuki is gay, Kuwabara freaks out and yells for the others to not get too close for him so that they won't catch whatever disease he has (i.e., that makes him gay.)
I wish that I weren't so busy with college. TT_TT I haven't watched the series in ages. It's pathetic, since I run a pretty famous fansite for it. TT_TT

North American. It's an acronym that usually refers to the American-dubbed version (although sometimes Canadian) of an anime. There are some real gems in the American dub of Yuu Yuu Hakusho. XD I'm pretty sure that some of the lines in that NA version weren't in the Japanese, though.
I've watched a lot of the episodes in Japanese, though, and while Kuwabara doesn't seem to freak out over the issue quite as much, he still seems kind of scared. I blame most of that on that dream Yuusuke gave him in the first episodes (the dream where he picks up Yuusuke and kisses him.) I think that the trauma gave him a lifelong fear of homosexuals. >_>

Yeah, the American dub of Hakusho IS really good.
I don't really think the original Japanese gets as good until the Chapter Black Saga...But yeah. Hakusho is one of the few English dubs that I tolerate...><
