Description Hujann.
(Who-yon)

Place of origin: Province Of Jugawa. (U-Ga-Wa)

Coming in many different colors hujann are almost completely covered head to toe in fur, they somewhat resemble a lynx in appearance with two goat like horns atop their head and a natural armor like plates long their arms, legs, lower chest and stomach, And in the male gender they have long whisker like facial hair that ends in a small tufted of fur, While the females lack these "Whiskers" they instead have longer horns with two or more points.
Their average height is around 5-6 feet tall with a muscular build. They have average arms with the digitigrade legs and long tails.
The Hujann people having thick fur are well adapted to their cold and frigid environment along with having clawed feet aids them with climbing the rocky hills and mountains as well as the ability to climb trees although they aren't very graceful when climbing trees. Standard Hujann diet is that of an omnivore though you wouldn't think it by mere observation. Primarily the Hujann people grow Gourds, Roots, Herbs, certain kinds of Potatoes and Leafy greens along with Allium vegetables assorted nut trees such as hazelnut and Hican trees and various types of berries. And their primary meat sources are usually Moose, Elk, Seal, Pheasant, and other such game.

The Hujann live in the cold harsh province of Jugawa. Jugawa is a vast land filled with some of the worlds largest rocky moutians, rolling hills and timberlands, ice fields and grasslands, as well as many lakes and rivers.
Because of the harshness of Jugawa, the Hujann have been bred to be equally as tough and harsh warriors so usually Hujann are seen as blunt almost rude people, however that being said the Hujann people see themselves as honest and are rather vocal of their opinions. Despite their harsh exteriors the Hujann are actually quite open and friendly once they get to know you, and if you're named friend by a Hujann he/she will be a very dear and loyal friend for life treating you as if you were family.

Typical Hujann behavior is mostly that of a warrior of honor even if the individual is or is not a warrior, that mindset stands for the highest King or even the lowliest begger, they love a good fight and live for challenge. They are generally serious but enjoy humor when they find it, Hujann are honorable, honest, and very loyal as well as having a high sense of fair play, . It's very rare to see a Hujann criminal. (Aside from the occasional brawl)
Hujann tend to favor hunting and living off the land in a more traditional "simple life" kind of lifestyle, although you are still likely to see a Hujann in a large city just as any other race.

The Hujann people aren't very materialistic although some things do have higher value to them than others, wealthy material gain isn't that important to them, however items such as a family sword or armor or their household or even the treatment of their dead is vastly important to them over all else, Hujann bury their dead in one of two ways, the first most common way is in borrows usually belonging to a family or village to where all their dead are wrapped in cloths and buried in alcoves, second is common on the battlefield which is funeral pyre's in which a small stone altars built than the body or bodies were laid upon and wood piled around them than the pile is set ablaze afterwords the ashes are collected in urns for specially lined baskets.
Normally in Hujann culture it is typical for a young Hujann male to attempt to "win the affection" of a female. This is usually done by works of honor, bravery, or some other test of their abilities to show that they are the best and most suitable mate.

Among the common people the relationship between mates is monogamous, however the high chieftains are allowed polygamous relationships having multiple suitors, typically up to four mates are chosen among the chieftains however this is not required of them.
When a Hujann woman is with child she typically gives birth 10 to 12 months after conception, they give birth to usually one or two offspring, they are then looked after by their mothers for about a year by then Hujann children are able to walk and eat solid foods by themselves. Hujann children mature quickly as they are out hunting and foraging at the age of four years, Hujann become sexually mature soon after their "coming of age ceremony" however they don't seek out a mate until the age of 17 years.

Religion/Culture.
The history of the Hujann people is so intertwined with their religious beliefs and legends that it's hard to tell one from the other and on top of that even though the Hujann people have a written language most of their stories, legends and even history is recounted orally usually through song , however scholars have painstakingly pieced together the hujann creation myth and their history.

As the legend goes a powerful deity known as Tanbutaan (although he goes by many names in other cultures) created the hujann along with many other races but only the hujann were closest to his appearance sharing many similarities, Tanbutaan created all these races to populate the world and to spread his teachings (these teachings however very to culture to culture, but hujann culture it's usually honor driven) sometime after their creation however tanbutaan departed from this world to live in what is called "The Azureen Temple" or just "Azureen" (the Hujann word for heaven) it is believed that the hujann dead reside there in the afterlife along with many others is a peaceful place for the good, faithful and the honorable it is a place that cannot be reached while alive.
The only interaction Tanbutaan has with his people is only through "Prophets" or "Wiseman, Wisewoman" contact usually involves deep meditation and the use of burning incense.

The Religious beliefs of the Hujann are strongly interwoven into everyday life, most notably is The "Fulk-kunji" which literally means from its ancient Hujann translation as "The First Song" as the legend goes the first words Tandutaan spoken to his creation were that of a song, or that his voice sounded heavenly and musical it is unclear as to which.
As the ancient stories go the first song that was spoken by Tandutaan where rules of conduct for his people. For the Hujann people it is not merely a set of spiritual rules it is also a prayer in song meant to be sung aloud in the "Old tongue" the words to the song are as follows:
"Thou shall be obedient to me, Thou shall follow my words and not the words of any others, My word is law. Thou shall not kill one another nor shall thou take what is not thine to possess. Thou shall not make war against whom I have not commanded, nor shall thou wane against thy enemies lest my favor pass from thou. Thou shall be spread the world over and thou shall conceive more of thine own selves in my name. Thy conduct shall be honorable and thy lips shall only speak truth lest you call my wrath unto you and thy kin. My word is law...." ~Tandutaan Fulk-kunji. Verses 1 - 4.
worship usually involves animal sacrifices on small altars typically in the home but mainly on special occasions (such as a wedding or a child's birth ) large public sacrifices are held in the center of the village however in cities such occasions are held in the public monasteries.
Holidays in the Hujann culture are quite frequent usually they mark certain seasons or times of the year, they also celebrate everything from victories of wars, battles long past, ancient prophets and heroes, historical (and even some nonhistorical) events. Celebrations of this kind most typically involve large feasts of many varieties usually these feasts are comprised of the entire village worths of people, even in large cities there are public dining halls specifically crafted for these events, celebratory feasts of this kind are usually weeklong events sometimes lasting even longer.

When Hujann young reach the age of 10 they go through ritualistic ceremony called the kodan-aiju ceremony (the coming of age ceremony) the ceremony primarily consists of a series of tests and deep meditation, although these tests are a closely guarded secret by Hujann elders from what we were able to learn is more or less a "proving" of the child's capabilities as a Warrior, Archer, or Magi, other than that however any knowledge of the ceremony is unknown and it is a forbidden taboo to speak or to even ask about it even within the Hujann culture, "Outsiders"(anyone who isn't a Hujann) asking about it however are seen as foolish or just idiotic.

The "Wisemen/Women" or "Prophets" as they are commonly known in Hujann culture are typically chosen by another elder Prophet during their "coming of age" ceremony, one can easily spot a Hujann Prophet in a crowd due to their permanently dyed fur patterns, these patterns are usually dyed red, black, yellow or even white. Even if their fur is shaven off the hair will regrow with the same color patterns, the dyeing technique is a closely guarded secret by Prophets even to this day.
The duties of a Prophet is to see to the spiritual needs of the people in the village or city, typically a Prophet is called upon to bless a construction of the home/building or to oversee a marriage ceremony or the birth of a child. However in some cases prophets are called upon to ward off "evil spirits and demons" or to serve as counselors for the head chieftains.

Yea,Β I tend to get carried away with the background stuff.

They come in a lot of colors most all of them are natural color patterns similar to a lynx, bobcat, or even snow leopard or tigerΒ like patterns. they come in many shades of oranges, yellows, browns, tans, grays, white, black.

Oooh cool!

Heart0fInk In reply to Nutrea [2013-09-30 03:59:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh good, so making these guys hasn't been a total loss. jk.

lol, yes they wear cloths, However usually their cloths are miti purpose in that it can double as a sort of "Light armor". Mostly they wear what they hunt and kill so mostly furs to keep warm in the harsh cold that they live in and leathers for their pseudo armor.
So kinda like these: www.conanmovieblog.com/wp-cont…
www.medievalcollectibles.com/i…
fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/201…
www.conanmovieblog.com/wp-cont…

Well, they personally aren't that advanced with their technology, they focus more on improving their psycal being rather than thier technological. So they mostly spend time and energy into marital arts, sword play, meditation, and mental fortitude.
However, the Hujann are part of a larger group (an alliance) which many other races are a part of, the top three founding races were the Hujann, Humans and another race I'm almost finished with called the Tau but they are for later. ^-^

Humans are technologically advanced having in recent years everything from air ships, mechanical prosthetics, and even a type of energy gun. (Also for later)

The Tau on the other hand are masters of "Magic" and are famous for their places of leaning. (That's as much as i can say ATM)

So by osmoses the Hujann have access to both of the others resources, Be it technology or magics.

*Phew*

Heart0fInk In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2013-09-25 03:31:32 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. In all honesty what i have now for their "back story"Β  isn't all of it... in fact it's probably not even half. Still working on it though. ^-^

Yes it is a lot of fun, though I'm not used to writing but it's a good challenge.

To be honest I'm not sure what I'm writing.
What started as mindless blurtingΒ on paperΒ in an attempt to create an "OC" resulted in an entire universe that is still very much incomplete at the moment.
In fact this whole thing has become an all consuming project. But I digress, I'm thinking either a book or a comic of some kind, and as of right now I'm leaning a little more towards a comic because I'd rather show something "Other worldly" and or visually cool to look at rather than waste peoples time and interest trying to explain it to themΒ you know what i mean?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to Heart0fInk [2013-09-28 18:43:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, when developing a race, there's a lot of stuff to consider if you want it to be realistic. It does take a lot of work and time. And I get what you mean about 'starting out as one idea' sort of thing, that expanded into a whole universe. I have a novel I've set aside and work on here and there that started out similarily. And man, it's a lot of work... so much stuff in it! But it's a lot of fun, so I don't mind. Oh yes, a comic version would be cool! What you can show in one picture can take hundrds of words to write into an actual book, so there's definitely something nice about that (and plus, comics are fun to read). Of course, sometimes it can take a while to draw a scene, so I guess there's pros and cons for both. I'd say if a comic sounds more fun, than do a comic! (I wish I had the skills right now to do a comic; I tried for the story I mentioned above, but I didn't get very far...)

Heart0fInk In reply to BahamutDeusModus [2013-09-29 04:09:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh totally! it's a blast to write about that kinda thing.
and yeah, even though writing a "realistic" background may be more challenging it's way more fun. ^-^

Yeah that's true about comics unfortunately, it's very time consuming. :T
However you can do a sort of Half and half thing, Like write out the majority of the story on "paper" and perhaps draw out key scenes in the story so you don't have to write too much detail.
Like say the key scene in a chapter is that the hero is brought before a ruler in his throne room, instead of describing the throne room/the ruler in detail just draw it out as like a chapter "Cover art" kinda thing you know?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to Heart0fInk [2013-10-05 17:55:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that's a good idea about drawing for a story! I like the idea of drawing out the scenery and that way you don't need to spend several paragraphs to describe the details. I do like to read some description about the scenery in a book, but I enjoy a paragraph of well-built phrases that paint the picture adequatly and leave a bit up to your imagination, rather than several paragraphs describing it intricately, as it can get boring after a while. I think about so much more stuff from writing my own book than I did a few years ago, I think. But funnily enough, about the details and backrgounds of the world of the story, I've been able to write a book much easier without having much background at all in the beginning but it comes to me along the way, then when I was writing a book where I'd developed a ton of background info. Maybe it's just me?

Yeah, in fact i may use that style in the near future... that is if i can figure out this whole story writing thing.

And i agree i've been able to get an over all idea of the world i'm building with just these small parts i'm writing about, it's slow going but it's coming along.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BahamutDeusModus In reply to Heart0fInk [2013-11-24 22:29:52 +0000 UTC]

No worries!

The nice thing about developing the world first is that when you write the story, you already know what you're talking about and you don't run into (usually) the problem of having to go back and add or change stuff about the world and beings in it. For me, this stuff usually just comes along at it's own pace. I guess it's kind of fun that way too, because I get some surprises in my own story that way.
