Description 2006
Oil on Canvas
20"x20"

I wanted to paint my cat, but not in a cutesy way...to simply fill in for a traditional figure....she proved a good model:>

It's amazing I love the shadows cast by the cat on the sheets, and the creases are great. Very nice composition too.

This is a great painting indeed. I really love your composition, in this as well as in other pieces you have done. And you keep sticking to the same simplicity and cleanness in your paintings, which is awesome to look at every time. It is fun to see how you have switched your usual human model with a cat, and the way you have painted her so relaxed and casual, not like this cutsie thing. The other thing that comes in mind right when looking at it, is the onwderful use of light, how it is warm from one side, mwatching the cat, and cold from the other, contrasting her, this balances it in such a nice way. I read another comment here, and I do not think you would need another element to balance it.. It does not make me feel like it is tipping over, at all Another masterpiece from you!

I love how you don't try to make anything look prettier, cuter, or nicer. You just paint it as it is. I love that about your work.

LOL my dog would be a good model too he'll lay there without moving for hours! I love the painting, the angle is great and your skills always amaze.

Look at the *temperature* in that light!!
I seriously stared more in awe of that gorgeous temp change across the surface, than that cat.
This is a seriously marvelous piece. On the surface, a strictly traditional observation painting...but it has enough intrigue in it's color and composition to function as a fine art piece in the way of nearly serving as an abstraction!

*swoon*

Top notch work as per usual

Again I'm a big fan of the way you use your paint, but I guess you know that by now

I love it, and the way you give your subjects 'breathing room'.

She was a sleap ? The technic verry good as allways , you're great , and the colours that you use, wonderfull....but the left down corner.... is a little bit empty I think ....I would put there soemthing gentle and little ... but blah my works are not better . I love it

Cats are excellent models. Dogs tend to fidget too much. Do you work from photos? Have I asked you that before? Have you seen Hockney's dachshound painting series?
