Description Most times I like to walk and think about where my life is headed. I find it relaxing and peaceful. While on one of my walks I noticed the ironic scene I stumbled upon. The tracks, much like life were headed in many directions. Which way you choose to go is all up to you.

Taken about a half hour after twilight. It was 35 degrees out and just stopped raining, I walked about 3 miles, freezing but clearing my head. Appreciate it!

A beautiful shot, I love the colours you’ve captured, that orange warmth of the lights versus the cold blue of the steel makes for a great photo. That gleam of the tracks is irresistible.

My only criticisms would be with the sky which seems a bit blurry to me, if you were nifty with an airbrush you could afford to clean that up a bit. And also with the light on the far left there which is bleeding into the picture and is somewhat distracting from the true centre of interest, the end of the line. You could maybe consider airbrushing that out too or cropping it which may be a better idea because compositionally it would tighten the shot up a bit too.

Also in terms of composition notice how the blue sky and dark tracks take up roughly the same area within the piece, you could make this shot more interesting if you varied these area, it would create extra contrast. Experiment with cropping off around a third of the sky maybe.

Also you could probably stand to increase the contrast and maybe sharpen it up just a bit, just to give it even more power then it already has.

the lighting here is simply grogeruous, especially the reflections on the railroad tracks, they look wonderful - almost glass like at some places, and the overall atmosphere conveyed by this photography is a very calming and peaceful one, seeing the empty hallway with no appearant life anywhere near (as if all were at home already with their family and such ). Rain has a good effect on many photos involving light, so it was definitely a good idea taking it after the rain - the tracks, the stones, and even the wood reflect the light much better when being still a bit wet from the rain. An interesting change would be trying to take the photo from right in between the tracks, so they're centred, and the camera a bit more to the floor, pointing to about the same skyline - I'm not sure how this would look, but I guess it would be worth a try, right now, at the bottom it just seems a bit randomly placed (even though I'm sure you had good reasons to take it from this perspective, and I'm no photographer after all )
anyhow, it's very nicely looking and makes a good print, especially because of the many colours (also due to the lighting, of course) which are in photo - well done

(plus I like the glass-like writeup at the bottom - pretty, indeed)

I love this night shot, it has such a strong feeling to it, the light gleaming on the wet rails... Perhaps the composition would be more perfect if the rail started in the down right corner instead of somewhere in the middle, but that's no biggie..

Wow, i love this...its a wonderful photograph and also very symbolic. Youre right, at some point in everyone's life there will be a crossroads, and it all reflects the people we become. Every choice, or path, leads us a different way. Sometimes we could take the wrong turn or what not, but still its always nice to know that there will be other crossroads ahead where we can stop and think which way will this road take me. Sorry that you had to walk on a such a cold night, but im glad that you were able to clear your head.

No I did not get electricuted, we don't have electric rails out here on regular trains. They are powered by fuel. Only the city subways have the deadly 3rd rail.

Lol it's ok, maybe this person also had a moment when the tracks split and thought "what now" as I did.

Anyway, I did mine first and that is what matters to me.

Oh, man, brilliant capture! Though it's almost as if there should be people there and yet there aren't... and there's like the golden lights of the future along the line... It really remidns me of a place I stayed for about 6months in London, and we used to hang around by the tracks sometimes. The sky looks perfect, here, though, and where we were it was always either raining or cloudy so...

Love the sharp focus on the metal of the tracks, it brings more meaning to what you've said about them being just like life.

They also reflect the colour of the sky and the lights, nice capture!

Sorry if I'm echoing all the other comments here, but this is brilliant!

The light reflecting against the tracks, the lighting, the colors, simply beautiful!

I find that I always get good shots with frozen fingers, a runny nose, from being out in weather like that too, I wonder why that is... I just know that I love fall and winter, but hate driving in snow

Great job my dear!!!

Ugh, I know I said I don't want to repeat what other folks have said with these photos but this is cool enough to make me a liar.

The shining tracks look so good, especially the way they pick up the orange glow in the distance. The whole pic has a really colourful, glossy look that is really appealing to look at. The busy horizon adds something to look at for a while when your eyes follow the tracks into the picture and the empty sky balances it out nicely.

the blue is so lush. Love the faint glow around the lights in the background. I love it when having a camera handy can capture how Im feeling at that exact moment. From reading how you were taking a walk along the tracks, clearing your head and thinking about where your life is going, nothing could probably capture that mental crossroad moment better than the fork in the long and winding traintrack of life.

Bella!
