Description Does anyone remember this little guy that we rescued from the pet store? [link]

This is him two months later! He got freaked out by the dog and had quite the attitude all day! Doesn't he look better? It's hard to believe it's the same lizard!

Taking this photo was a little difficult because I couldn't look in the view finder while I was taking it. Little Sora was freaking out so much he tried to bite the camera a couple of times--he's never acted like this before, but he calmed down after a while.

Yeah he was a cool dragon. I passed away about 8 months ago--because of his rough start in life he was really prone to infections and as he got older they were harder and harder to treat. 5-6 years is lot longer than he would have lived if we hadn't saved him though. I know he was a very happy dragon. ^^

Yay awesome lizard!

The only thing that kinda boiled the quality down a little is the grain in the blurry background. I think you should smoothen it up and give the image a little more contrast in photoshop

I saw a friend of mines dragons the other day....healthy looking also. Amanda was shocked at how big the acually were as adults. She is used to seeing them in your pics or little babies in the store.

woah, that's such an amazing shot!! @___@ your photographs never ceases to amaze me....it's always so stunning!
his scale pattern is so pretty....

how strong do you think those lil jaws of his are? o.o

HeatherTelesca In reply to seel-dingo [2006-08-08 16:43:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much!

They aren't too strong, but he might be able to draw blood if he wanted too. Beardies almost never bite, but he was very freaked when I took this.

seel-dingo In reply to HeatherTelesca [2006-08-09 10:14:13 +0000 UTC]

ah, i was wondering how strong they were, coz i have an iguana, and she could bite off someone's finger XB;; she's a nasty little thing, but it's mainly coz i was too scared to hold her when i first got her. now i'm REALLY too scared. X(

i'm thinking of giving her to someone who can take better care of her, and get a gentler type of lizard instead....like a chameleon or one of those lil guys :3 *points to the picture*

HeatherTelesca In reply to seel-dingo [2006-08-09 23:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Female igi's usually aren't aggressive--are you sure you don't have a male?

Beardie's all the way--unless you never want to hold it--then you can get a cham!

seel-dingo In reply to HeatherTelesca [2006-08-10 01:14:31 +0000 UTC]

well, for a while i thought she was a guy because she was so mean, but then i read somewhere (with pictures) that guys have these little circular glands on their legs, and i checked and she didn't have them. so, unless s/he still hasn't developed enough, i'm pretty sure she's a girl o_o;

chameleon..... T^T

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HeatherTelesca In reply to seel-dingo [2006-08-10 02:32:31 +0000 UTC]

The glands, at least on bearded dragons, look like little bumps along the underside of the back legs--they kind of look like little insect bites without the red. I don't know if it's the same for igs, but I wouldn't call the ones on beardies circular.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

seel-dingo In reply to HeatherTelesca [2006-08-10 03:46:30 +0000 UTC]

well, they looked like scales a bit more circular than otehrs, and they were in a line along the hind legs. similar on all lizards i guess, but my lil iguana doesn't have them 8<

HeatherTelesca In reply to seel-dingo [2006-08-10 15:53:21 +0000 UTC]

How old is she?

It does sound like she's a female, which is just very weird. If you do handle her try throwing a towel over her head and body and then picking her up. It will help her stay calm, and give you a little protection if she does try to bite. (This is what I did with little Sora when he was acting all fierce.) You may also find that feeding her favorite treats while holding her may get her to calm down.

It seems to me like there might be something wrong that is making her act out...have you considered taking her to a good vet?

seel-dingo In reply to HeatherTelesca [2006-08-10 20:26:39 +0000 UTC]

hmmm....she's about.....5 or 6 years old i think?
man, i was gunna go pick her up and spend time with her today, after feeding my snake......and i made the mistake of holidng ms. snakey while preparing the rats... @___@ hungry snake + seel that smells yummy = owwy on my face.

but thanks for the tips, i'll go try and make friends with her once my face stops stining.
and a vet sounds good.....i'll take em both to one when i find one that accepts reptiles
