Description I know this is similar to this: [link] but the light was different and I thought I would shoot Sora again. He really freaks out when he is put in the big cage on the balcony, which makes for some pretty fun photos.

Wow! The way it captured the scale colors of the neck is just stunning- took care of a teachers beardie back in high school. Had to be there an hour early :S so... a whole hour to spend with Thor- Thought of him as a scaly bulldog (loved being scratched right behind the ears). Thor never had the black coloration though or opened his mouth so it is neat to see this picture. Great shot!

Yeah, this guy had a rough start to life (he was a rescue) and he passed away recently at about 6 years of age. He did pretty well, considering I found him with broken bones, half eaten toes, and poor nutrition. But there were things that freaked him out, and standing over him with a camera in an open space was totally one of them.

Thanks! Some are easier than others. This particular one acts like a frightened little attack dragon when he is put in a large cage outside to bask. He also tends to attack the camera when I get close to him with it--hense the photo.

He is normally a sweety though, he was just abused before I got him, so I can't blame him for being strange on occation.

He has got plenty for the little *&%&$% he is! LOL!

I have a male that is much larger than Sora is, and Sora has recently decided that he is a man of the house even though he is half the size of the other male!

It looks like you really pissed him off. lol. What is up with the beard...does it serve a protective purpose or is it just ornament?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

HeatherTelesca In reply to thereseldavis [2006-09-21 14:50:17 +0000 UTC]

Just like Koyu said, it is used for defense (like here) and it is also used in mating. The male will get a very black beard and "bob" his head to attract the female.

There's a reason they are called bearded dragons.

It makes him look bigger and more aggressive to anything threatening.

Gave him to my cousin once I got too busy.

Fun shot.

Thank you!

They are lots of fun to keep, but can be very time consuming. I'm glad you had the foresight to find a good home for him when you could no longer take care of him. It's a tough decision to make for sure!
