Horray! I finally get to post my favorite page in the entire book. SkekLach the Collector was a blast to draw; I'm looking forward to working on his scenes in the second volume. =3I'd like to post more, but I think this'll be it for now. I'm far too busy for my own good.
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year! I resolve that by this time next year I'll be 10 pounds lighter.

Legends of the Dark Crystal has and always will remain some of my favourite Dark Crystal tales outside of the film. SkekLach also in turn ended up becoming one of my favourite skeksis, he's like a more dangerous and competent skekSil, but with his own charm and is a very "collected" character if your pardon the pun. Needless to say I am absolutely devastated that he was retconned for the Age of Resistance series, seeing him on screen was one of the main things I was looking forward too. Thank you for having given us fans this fantastic manga (the art is beyond gorgeous, omg, I must find out what else you have worked on

I liked his character when reading the graphic novel series, he's a power house like SkekUng, but he's also has a keener, manipulative edge to him as well.

I've just heard the Tokyopop 2006 panel with Jake Forbes and Barbara Kessel, and they mention skekLach having a pet called an "arduff". What was it? There are several background creatures in the manga, and I'd like to know which one exactly they refer to.

Sorry for the late reply- Β The arduff were originally supposed to play a much larger role in book three. Β After that got cut, they were only seen at the Skeksis banquet at the beginning of book two; they're essentially SkekLach's attack dogs. Β You can see that he has them on a leash in that scene.

As someone who wants to start using ink, may I ask how much you rough out your work first before you start inking?

Shucks, thank you! I usually pencil my pages fully before I ink them. Granted, my pencils are pretty loose at times, but it's still clean enough that I know what I'm doing(and what I'm looking at). I typically blue line them in photoshop and print them out for inking, which is pretty helpful.

i finally got to get a copy of the manga today! i really really really REALLY! like Skeklach, and i adore the way your draw him and the emperor.
I really cannot wait for the next book to come out, dont know when it will be though D:

Yes yes! I saw him in the comic! SkekTek is a bit scared for him, or...well...not sure. He's not quick scared for something. I love skekLach a lot! Like Steelpengu said, the book is better than the movie! This book will be perfectly for a movie! Only, there must be coming more scenes of the Skeksis in it

I can't really take credit for his design, sadly. Max Kim designed him before I took the job...but he was certainly entertaining to draw. I did get to design a couple skeksis for book two though!
