Description Here is everybody's favorite tomboy, Arya. I wonder where her storyline will take her - please don't spoil anything, I just finished watching the second season yesterday. She already is an interesting character though, and I really like her.
I don't really like the way her hair turned out, it looks weird to me, but I couldn't do any better. Other than that, I'm quite happy with this.
Done in GIMP with an Aiptek tablet.

I used a reference for this, but it was a combination if two different screencaps and it seems I can't find either of them on the net anymore. Oh well.

O am totally captavated by her fascinating story also' she has proven very cunning & optomistice & tomboyishly cute in her story. It feels like she will be a major desider in how the future may unfold. By the way i would fuss about the hair it looks great this render of Arya Stark. Like to see her short hair version too hehe.

Thank you I think it really helps to look at a lot of references (especially for stuff like fabric or hair) to figure out how to paint something with a lot of details.

There aren't many Gimp users here so I look for others to see what they can do and maybe learn from them, some even look down on it. It's a good program and hopefully watching you may help. Thanks for posting the WIP's.

That's true, GIMP is a bit underrepresented here. Looking at other artists' work is something that will definitely help you improve, it sure helped me a lot. Though if you look at painting tutorials and WIPs, I think it's really not that relevant whether the artist uses PS or Paint Tool or GIMP because the process is roughly the same, only the tools differ slightly. A tutorial that has helped me a lot in getting started with digital art was this one , because it doesn't overwhelm you with steps and details but works really well as a guideline.

Oh wow, I just adore Arya! Your paintings are amazing, when I see the thumbnail I need to open them because they look like a photo at first glance. And you do this on gimp! I must learn how you do this! *cough*only have mouse though*cough*

*squee* Thank you so much!! I actually think GIMP provides everything that you need to create great stuff (not that I've ever tried anything else, though xD)... it'll be difficult only with a mouse though. I struggled with that for quite some time before deciding to get a tablet, and getting one just made everything sooo much easier. It doesn't even have to be an expensive one, I think mine was around ~60 €...

I did have a tablet, but then after a while it stopped working. I don't know why. It wasn't the tablet I wanted, unfortunately I want a wacom bamboo, but they can be quite expensive. And you're welcome

Meh, that sucks. The one I have is called Aiptek Slim Tablet or something. It is quite good, although I can't compare it to a Wacom since I've never had one.

you can get a bamboo on amazon for as little as 40 if you are willing to buy a re-ferb, new is like 50. also depends where you are from, ie UK or US etc xx I got mine from there. I started on a trust flex which are like £25 on e-bay, only prob is nibs, i seem to destroy them too fast lol xx great picture, love Arya, she's my fave character xx

That's really quite inexpensive. There are different models though, aren't there? I think I remember reading something about one that cost around ~200 €... o__O
