Description Doctor Who: The Fan Doctors. I thought I'd do this one for fun

Something I did in a previous Doctor Who illustration which had some of the actors who have played the Doctor in fan productions standing in the background. This time I thought I'd give them center stage. I also based their poses on Lee Sullivan's marvel...ous The Usual Suspects inspired Doctor Who illustration from Doctor Who magazine

From left to right this illustration features Nicholas Briggs, Tony Garner, Rupert Booth, Vasilios Alagiannis and Nick Scovell. Most of them I've gotten to know through various internet sites.

Nicholas Briggs had starred in a few fan audio productions when he was younger and was the model for DWM's "Ninth Doctor" in the comic strip story "Wormwood" before he went onto spearheading Doctor Who audio plays with Big Finish as well as doing the voices for all things Dalek and Cybermen for the current Doctor Who series.

Tony Garner starred as an Interim Doctor between The Second and Third Doctor for a fan production Devious. Which is set between the War Games and Spearhead from Space where the Doctor is pulled out of time right before he is sent to Earth to carry out his exile. Think of this regeneration as sort of the same concept as the Valeyard but not evil. This particular production also features the last performance of Jon Pertwee.

Rupert Booth starred in a series of videos for Timebase Production between 1994 and 2001. Which would make him a sort of alternative Eighth Doctor. It should be mentioned the videos also feature a new Doctor appearing without a regeneration sequence. Which predates the Ninth Doctor's episode "Rose" by a good eleven years I should also mention that they also produced an episode that features William Shakespeare

Vasilios Alagiannis stars as the Doctor in an ongoing series of films for Home Grown Productions out in sunny California. I've gotten to know Vasilios and he's a nice young kid and it's always good to see a younger generation of fans into the series. Especially since he was a fan before the new series started.

Nick Scovell starred as the Doctor in a production called "The Millennium Trap" as well as on stage in a few adaptations of a few lost Patrick Troughton stories like "Evil of the Daleks" and "Web of Fear".

If we went about listing every fan Doctor we'd have a pretty long list.

I'd actually thought about those ones. Especially with Geoffrey Bayldon and David Warner since they were playing alternate universe versions of the First and Third Doctor.

Actually, I would have minded seeing Big Finish expand that series and include adventures starring a few of the "Doctor's" from the fan vids like Rupert Booth and Nick Scovell since they both appeared as characters in Big Finish Doctor Who adventures

Well, this is more a portrait of the "Doctors" who have appeared in fan-made videos rather than professionally for the BBC.

However, I did one with Mark Gatiss along with Peter Cushing, Trevor Martin, Rowan Atkinson and Richard E. Grant which is probably lurking in the collection somewhere
