Description Illustrated in Deleter #3 Black Drawing Ink with Crow Quill Pen and Brush on Canson Smooth Bristol Board.

For Doctor Who fans living in 1999, a new series was nowhere in sight and the only way at that point to get our Doctor Who fix was through the Eighth Doctor and Past Doctor adventures from BBC Books.

So, you can only imagine how thrilled I was when Big Finish began offering original audio plays featuring the voices of the original television Doctors Peter Davision, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. What made it even better was the stories being offered in these plays were very well done. Written by some very talented writers who had done Doctor Who stories previously for Virgin and later BBC Books.

And then you can only image my thrill when Big Finish had signed on Eighth Doctor Paul McGann to do a series of adventures as the Doctor. At that this point, this was the closest thing we were going to get to a new Doctor Who series.

This illustration is the Eighth Doctor with his companion from the earlier series Charley Pollard as portrayed by India Fisher. I would have loved to see the Eighth Doctor and Charley in a television series.

Charley was supposed to be originally from the 1930's so I decided to have her appear in this illustration in period clothing.

I was never sure in the earlier audio's if she was going to be doing a Tegan Jovanka and just appear in every adventure in the uniform she was wearing aboard the R101. Since I love drawing clothing from the 1920's and 1930's, I thought I would draw her in something like that instead.

I always liked Paul McGann's Doctor. One of the best things that came out of the 1996 movie was the fact that they brought back the Sonic Screwdriver. Which I always thought was the biggest mistake to get rid of.

Love

I never got any of the audiobooks. So they're worth a hunt?

I haven't heard all of them. But Storm Warnings, Sword of Orion, Invaders from Mars and Neverland are excellent.

I still have to listen to Minut in Hell. Eighth Doctor and the Brigadier

I definitely recommend. I still remember the disappointment when the Eighth Doctor movie didn't end up turning into a series. So, it was great to finally hear Paul McGann reprise the Eighth Doctor with some really great writing. Which just proved what a great choice he was

Okay that out of the way, this is great. I love your style and I live the outfit you used for her. Very fitting for her character.

Thank you I thought since she's from the 1930's she'd be dressed in something from her time period. And naturally I am sure the Doctor's wardrobe would have everything in her style

The Eighth Doctor is my favourite Doctor, entirely thanks to the Big Finish Audio Dramas. Charley is also my favourite companion. I just love listening to the pair of them.

And I do like to think that Charley picked out clothing from the Doctor's wardrobe that suited her home-time.

I agree. I didn't want to think she was pulling a Tegan wearing an airline stewardess costume most of her time in the TARDIS.

The Gorey-esque style really suits these two, especially Charley.

Well done!
