i had loads of these gems you use to decorate tables at weddings and stuff leftover, it came to good use XD i was gluing the gems onto the petals and it looked so stupid so i had to pick them off and i poured it over and shook it to fall into a better place. my attempt at a rose didnt turn out so well since it was hard to make it thin and curve the tips of the petals without it cracking off so my rose just looks like a very thick flower D:Β

it doesn't look bad, but did you try adding water to your hand to help shape and prevent cracks?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HhabzZyYy In reply to Josiah-Black [2013-08-20 07:13:38 +0000 UTC]

Yup kept adding water on my fingers to smooth it out coz it kept drying when i took too long to finish shaping xD it cracked when i was sticking each petal on so i would get a wet brush with some clay on it to help fill in te crack and smooth it out. At the end of sticking all the petals on then i tried to bend the tips more but when i saw cracking i would stop D: i think my clay just dries out too easily since it air dries

I know some about the process and all seen in my year of collageΒ I worked in a ceramics lab. the only other thing I would suggest wouldΒ be to used aged clay stuff that has not been let to dry but has sat around for a while. Β Β

the clay i used was nylon which is fine for making stuff if im super quick plus it came in good packaging so i can put it away and it wont dry up til its out of the bag, i had some clay where u gotta put it in the oven to make it solid but that dries quickly too coz it came in a plain like candybar wrapper so whatever i wrapped in a bag and put away dried up pretty quick too D: might have to do with my house being super hot though XD but yeah im going to look for another type of clay after im back from holiday
