OK. I thought I'd show you guys how this is going. I started on my real media painting. It's very high opacity and high chroma, which is unusual for me. The process has been enjoyable but without much instruction. I know the principles of glazing, etc. but haven't researched them. My public library does not have a very in depth art section, unfortunately. I suppose I could look on the net, but I'm leery.So... I need to get back in and finish the background. I'll leave it dark, for the most part, but I'll get the smoke in there. I believe I need to go back in and darken the right side (his left side) of the face, and the turned ear for the lighting to make more sense. And the backlighting needs work done. I've only just suggested it.
I'm losing steam, though. I'm not sure where I'm headed now. Also, my carpet likes to vomit little bits of crap which float around and stick in oil painting. So from now on, I'll have to put them away in some safe place. A drawer, or something. But that won't help this one, which has carpet vomit stuck all over it. 8D

how beautiful. I do not have a premium membership, therefore I can't critique; but here is what I would put.
Dragon Cat is a truly stunning piece, painted with such precision and detail it looks as if the cat could leap from the paper at any moment. The expression on the face and detail on th fur stand out, and are brought on by the dark, cavelike background. This is truly art.
In otherwords....very good.

I love how you've captured a calm, sweet cat in the face. From a distance, I looked at this while I was walking back to my computer, and it looks great from a distance; the lighting has more of an impact.
the only thing I could critique, being i don't know about felines, is that i get a little lost in the back/shoulder-y areas on the right, where it's dark.
Overall, it's awesome, the white fur colors are pretty.

Something about the eyes look weird, it might just bee since one is lighter.

haha, boo to carpet vomit! that sucks though, i don't suppose it would be possible to pull the little hairs out : /. it sucks when you work on a piece so hard, just to have it ruined by nature or some careless person : (.

Man, i still thik it looks ubber gorgeous. There are some visible quirks, like the lighting on the body which seems to bug me a bit(must be the blue you used) but other than that, beautiful piece. I cant wait to see it when its 'finished'.

I know that feeling. I hate when the little carpet-fuzz gets stuck in the paint! Good luck with it! 
The only thing I think looks a bit weird here is the right eye. (His left) It's a flat yellow while the other is a deep, shiny red. The pupil could be just slightly more to the left too I think. Looks like it's looking more to the right with the yellow eye then the red. The fur and patterns are very nice though and it's very cute! Looks like it's smiling a bit!

This is turning out really great! Only thing I notice is his eye focus seems to be a bit off.
Are you going to add shiny highlights on some of the fur? I don't know how bright the light that is shining on him is, but it seems kinda bright to me.

It's very beautiful, you seem to have brilliant handle of textures with the oil paints... I can't even use acrylics properly, I just end up using them like I would a coloured pencil lol.
