I've been working on commissions for about two months straight. It's a good thing; it means I've got work, but boy, it can get tedious.

So, I wanted to take a break and get to work on my art challenge.

This piece is about breaking free from local color. Usually that's all I deal with, and I feel like parts of my style might benefit from escaping the notion that a brown bat has to be brown, etc. The result reminds me a little bit of the old posters and things. It's still subdued in color (I'm going to do a highly saturated piece later) but I think I might have learned a thing or two by it.

A few people have already submitted some art and it's really interesting to see how everyone's interpreted the challenge, and all the submissions have made me very excited. I was going to wait until the end of the challenge to post what everyone had linked me to, but I might do it sooner.
